Apple is expected to launch the new 2021 iPhone models in September. According to leaked information, the tentative date for the next iPhone launch is set for September 14. Apple is expected to launch four new models, two of which will have “Pro” features. One such feature coming to the high-end iPhones is the inclusion of a ProMotion display, which is Apple’s moniker for a 120Hz refresh rate screen. According to a new report, the 2022 iPhones will have 120Hz refresh rate displays as standard. Let’s take a look at more details on the 2022 Apple iPhone display specs tipped even before the 2021 iPhones launch.
iPhone 14 to get 120Hz across all models, according to a new leak
Apple is gearing up for the iPhone 13 launch in September. Ahead of the launch, some details about the next year’s iPhones have leaked. According to The Elec, Apple will introduce the 2022 iPhones with a 120Hz refresh rate across all four models. The company is rumoured to launch ProMotion displays with a 120Hz refresh rate on the two high-end models launching this year. The non-Pro iPhones launching in 2021 are likely to stick to a 60Hz refresh rate.
Apple could switch things up in 2022. The next year’s models will have a 120Hz refresh rate as a common feature, according to the report. It states that LG, which is one of the suppliers for the iPhone 13 and 13 mini’s low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) display, will convert its production lines to supply 120Hz displays for the next year’s iPhones.
The company also plans to ditch the mini model next year and launch four iPhones in two screen sizes – 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch. The Pro models will feature a hole-punch display, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. However, if the production yields are good enough, all iPhone 14 models will come with a hole-punch display. Kuo had previously also stated that the high-end Pro models next year will get a 48MP primary camera. The main camera will support pixel-binning with a 12MP output. The top-end iPhones will also support 8K video recording.
