iPhones Grab 8 Spots in Top 10 Smartphones Globally in Terms of Sales in 2022 as Samsung Takes Remaining Spots: Counterpoint Research

iPhones were the best-selling smartphones in the year 2022. According to the Counterpoint Research report, Apple grabbed an astonishing 8 spots in the top 10 best-selling smartphones of the year. The Cupertino-based tech giant also became the first brand to achieve this feat. The remaining spots were taken by its arch-rival, Samsung but surprisingly through budget A-series devices, unlike the premium iPhones. iPhone 13 Was the Best-Selling Smartphone of 2022


According to the data revealed by Counterpoint Research, Apple occupied 8 spots in the top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2022 and became the first brand to do so. As the information revealed, the iPhone 13 was the best-selling phone from the brand last year. It was the best-selling phone for 8 straight months, second best-selling for a month, and slipped to 4th best-selling in the last three months post the launch of the iPhone 14 series, including the iPhone 14 Pro14 Pro MaxiPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus, in September 2022.

The second best-selling device from the brand was the top-end variant – iPhone 13 Pro Max. It was the second best-selling device for 8 months after the iPhone 12 but slipped to the 7th spot in September and October and the 11th and 15th spots in November and December 2022, respectively. The iPhone 14 Pro Max launched in September 2022 and was perched on the top spot in September, October, and November. It slipped to the second spot in December.

Other iPhones in the list include iPhone 13 ProiPhone 12iPhone 14iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone SE 2022. These iPhones occupied the spots 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. The 4th spot went to the Samsung Galaxy A13, and the Galaxy A03 occupied the 10th spot. Notably, these budget smartphones are far more affordable than the premium iPhones on the list.

Apple is expected to launch its upcoming iPhone 15 series, with all models featuring Dynamic Island cutout, in September 2023. However, to boost the sale of its base iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, the tech giant recently launched both these models in a new Yellow colour option. Yellow is the sixth colour option in the non-Pro lineup, joining midnight, starlight, (PRODUCT) RED, blue, and purple.
