iQOO 8 series India Launch Timeline Tipped Online, Here’s When it Might be Announced

The iQOO 8 series is reportedly set to launch in India soon, according to a report on the matter by 91mobiles. The latest range of smartphones from BBK Electronics brand iQOO was unveiled recently in China, and now, the report claims that iQOO is set to bring the new phones to India shortly — based on the success of the iQOO 7 series here. Formal launch teasers along with a release date are expected to begin shortly, suggesting that the devices may be unveiled in the weeks to come — before the festive season in India ends.

iQOO 8 and 8 Legend: expected specifications

The standard edition iQOO 8 smartphone that has been launched in China runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. The smartphone offers up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, and is based on Android 11 out of the box. It is almost certain to run on a different version of the custom ROM that it features in China. In terms of dimensions, the iQOO 8 is 8.6mm thick, and weighs 199 grams. The smartphone also features an in-display fingerprint sensor, as well as face unlock.

Other features include a 6.56-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with 92.8 percent screen to body ratio, and 120Hz refresh rate. In the camera department, the triple rear camera setup features a 48MP main unit based on the Sony IMX598 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP ‘portrait’ camera as well. To the front, the smartphone also features a 16MP selfie snapper. The entire setup is powered by a 4,350mAh battery with 120W fast charging, while connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and NFC, among others.


The iQOO 8 Pro in China, meanwhile, is expected to launch with a ‘Legend’ moniker in India. This one features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC, along with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage — and Android 11 out of the box as well. The smartphone features a 6.78-inch 2K+ Samsung E5 AMOLED display, with 120Hz refresh rate and 517ppi pixel density. The display is also tipped to be Dolby Vision and HDR10+ certified.

Other features include a triple rear camera featuring a 50MP Sony IMX766V main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 16MP ‘portrait’ camera. To the front, it features a 16MP camera. Both the phones feature in-display fingerprint sensors and centrally aligned drill hole slots for the front camera. Connectivity features remain constant, while in terms of battery and charging, the 8 Legend offers a 4,500mAh battery with 120W fast charging, 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging with compatible devices.
