iQOO is expected to unveil the next iteration of smartphones under its Neo lineup. The upcoming iQOO Neo 8 series is expected to consist of two models – iQOO Neo 8 and iQOO Neo 8 Pro. The iQOO Neo 8 Pro will be the first smartphone with a Pro moniker under the Neo lineup. Now, in a new development, famous Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the iQOO Neo 8 series will go official sometime in May.
DCS also confirmed the existence of two smartphones under the Neo 8 lineup. Alongside, the tipster has also revealed some of the key specifications of the upcoming Neo series smartphones. Let us take a closer look at the details.
Digital Chat Station claims that the iQOO Neo 8 will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. This is the same processor that iQOO has used on the iQOO Neo 7 Racing Edition which was unveiled back in December in China.
To those unaware, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is Qualcomm’s last generation flagship processor which is fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. Several Android manufacturers, in 2023, are now using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on their affordable flagship/ flagship killer segment smartphones such as OnePlus 11R, Redmi K60, and more.
The tipster further reveals that the iQOO Neo 8 Pro will be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor which is yet to be unveiled. As the name suggests, the Dimensity 9200+ is expected to be an enhanced version of the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 and is expected to offer performance similar to that of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Digital Chat Station says that the iQOO Neo 8 series will bring improvements in several departments including screen and camera. However, the tipster didn’t mention the specific upgrades that we are going to see on the Neo 8 series. Previously, the tipster claimed that the iQOO Neo 8 series will feature up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM. The upcoming Neo series smartphones are tipped to come equipped with up to 512GB UFS 4.0 onboard storage.
It is not clear if iQOO Neo 8 and iQOO Neo 8 Pro both will make use of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. However, there is a possibility that iQOO reserves these latest features for the iQOO Neo 8 Pro. The iQOO Neo 8 Pro is also tipped to compete against the upcoming Redmi K60 Ultra.
