iQOO has just announced on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, that the brand will launch a new smartphone, dubbed, the iQOO Z1, in China on 19th May.
We first heard about the iQOO Z1 a few days ago at the launch event of the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC. Well, the chipmaker didn’t reveal the name of this upcoming smartphone from iQOO. It just said that iQOO will soon launch a smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus. Soon after the announcement, a well-known Weibo account, Digital Chat Station, revealed that the smartphone MediaTek was talking about is the iQOO Z1. And today we finally have the confirmation about its existence from Vivo’s sub-brand.
iQOO Z1 features
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC supports display refresh rate up to 144Hz and taking its advantage, the iQOO Z1 is said to feature a 144Hz refresh rate display. And if that is true, the iQOO Z1 could possibly be the third smartphone to feature a display with a refresh rate as such, with first and second being Nubia Red Magic 5G and Nubia Play. Recently, a Vivo smartphone with model number V1986A passed through 3C and it is believed to be the iQOO Z1. This listing on 3C reveals that the iQOO Z1 will have 5G connectivity and 44W fast charging.
The iQOO Z1 is definitely not a flagship device because if it would have been a flagship phone, iQOO would have put the costlier Snapdragon 865 chipset in it rather than going with a MediaTek SoC. Expect the iQOO Z1 to sit below the iQOO Neo 855 Racing and iQOO 3 5G. So, expect the iQOO Z1 fall under the mid-range price category from a price perspective. And if that turns out to be true, the iQOO Z1 will compete with the likes of Redmi K30, Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite, Nubia Play, and Samsung Galaxy A71 5G. It is also possible that iQOO will launch the Z1 in India as the brand has recently entered the market.
