Jigarthanda Double X Digital Rights Acquired by Netflix, OTT Release Date to be Announced Soon

In 2014, a Tamil-language action comedy movie called Jigarthanda was released which has been written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kathiresan’s Group. This movie won two National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Bobby Simha and Best Editing for Vivek Harshan. This movie has been inspired by the 2006 South Korean flick A Dirty Carnival. The second installment of this movie is called Jigarthanda Double X. The teaser reveals that the movie will be a period drama, with Suryah and Lawrence essaying the roles of rivals. Suryah appears in a sharp suit, while Lawrence is a blacksmith skilled at making weapons. He lifts a camera towards the end. The sequel is expected to be along the lines of the first installment.

In Jigarthanda we follow the life of an aspiring filmmaker who wants to take inspiration from a gangster’s life. The gangster named Sethu,is infamous for his misdeeds. The second instalment, Jigarthanda Double X is a period drama, where Suryah and Lawrence are rivals. The former is dressed in a well-cut suit while the latter is a blacksmith making weapons.
