Jio AirFiber, a new internet service from Jio was announced at the Reliance AGM 2023 event back in August. During the announcement, Reliance Chairman, Mukesh Ambani confirmed that the AirFiber device will be launching in India on September 19, the Ganesh Chaturthi day. Today, the booking for the latest internet device from Jio is live across India on Jio’s website.
Jio already boasts over 10 million customers under its JioFiber services pan India and now, the company aims to use Jio AirFiber to expand its reach. Jio AirFiber Availability
Jio AirFiber service will be in 8 cities across India starting today. The service will be available in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad,
Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
The Jio AirFiber is a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) device that promises 5G speeds via the hotspot internet service. It will rival Airtel Xstream AirFiber in India. Jio’s AirFiber will use the existing 5G network and wireless tech to offer high-speed connectivity without relying on optical fiber. The hardware offers Wi-Fi 6 standard and comes with multiple LAN ports.
Jio Fiber will also include 550+ digital TV channels and OTT apps. Jio says users will be able to get the 4k Smart Set Top Box along with the voice-active remote at no additional cost.
It is a plug-and-play device that can be used as any regular router, but without wires as it is a wireless device. All it needs is an AC plug point and unlike the traditional routers, this device does not come with any optical cable connection. Once connected, the device can be set up using the Jio app and users will have multiple customization options inside the app itself. Jio AirFiber can cover up to 100 sqft area within the same floor.
