Jio Cinema App to Stream HBO Movies and Shows as Viacom 18 Signs Deal with Warner Bros

Fans of HBO content were in shock after the news spread that HBO is removing its content from Disney From March 31. But now, a piece of new information has emerged, which could make the fans of HBO and Warner Brother’s content go gaga. You all know that Jio Cinema has become big with its IPL streaming and is now on the path of becoming a mega player in the broadcasting service. According to the latest information, Reliance (RELI.NS) of Reliance India has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. (WBD.O) for its JioCinema streaming service in a major effort to bring well-known Hollywood programming to the platform. According to a report by Reuters, Jio Cinema has brokered a deal through which all the content from HBO and Warner Brothers will now be made available on its platform. A multi-year deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and Viacom18 will make JioCinema India the new streaming home for HBO, Max Original, and Warner Bros. content starting in May.

As a result of the partnership, Viacom18 will provide its Indian subscribers with a content slate across linear channels and the JioCinema streaming service. The JioCinema debuts of HBO Original, Max Original, and Warner Bros. television shows are scheduled for the same day as the US.

The contract includes returning seasons of Perry Mason, True Detective: Night Country, Euphoria, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, and The Last of Us, as well as current and upcoming seasons of the critically renowned HBO programs House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, Succession, and The White Lotus. The eagerly awaited HBO Original Shows The Idol, White House Plumbers, The Sympathiser, and The Regime are all included in the arrangement. Additionally, HBO’s renowned shows such as Game of Thrones, Sex in the City, etc as well as documentaries.

The report also conveys that the majority of Warner’s top-tier content will be available on JioCinema thanks to the collaboration, which will be unique. Disney (DIS.N) and Amazon (AMZN.O) Prime Video, two of Warner’s competitors in India, will be unable to purchase the majority of its well-known films.

Disney used to own the IPL digital streaming rights, which Viacom18 purchased for almost $2.9 billion for the period of 2023 to 2027.
