Upcoming Movies & Web Series on Jio Cinema: From ‘Dunki’ to ‘Bhediya’ Here’s the List of 100+ Jio Studios Titles Coming to OTT

A number of original movies are ready to be made available by Jio Cinema, the OTT business of Reliance Industries that till this point has provided an aggregation service for films. A significant collection of 100 new films has been presented by the media and content division of Reliance Industries, Jio Studios, recently. A mix of multilingual original movies and web series was presented in these titles. The brand says that these films are going to be available in Jio cinemas very soon; a number of them will have a theatrical release.

On Wednesday, Jio Studios unveiled their upcoming schedule for India. It has more than 100 movies and web series, including “Dunki,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, a courtroom drama for Amitabh Bachchan, as well as the “Bhediya” and “Stree” sequels.

Jio Studios, the Indian production arm of Reliance Industries, unveiled a sizable slate of films and streaming shows during a star-studded event in Mumbai. With SVF Entertainment, a significant figure in Bengali cinema, it has struck a production partnership. Action, drama, thriller, comedy, romance, biopics, horror, and musicals are all represented in the list of titles. The Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, South, and Bhojpuri audiences are their intended markets.

Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has announced collaborations with well-known filmmakers including Raj Kumar Hirani, Sooraj Barjatya, Dinesh Vijan, Ali Abbas Zafar, Aditya Dhar, Prakash Jha, Amar Kaushik, and Laxman Utekar for their forthcoming movies.

The decision is intended to empower storytellers and democratise material for Indians, according to Jyoti Deshpande, President of RIL Media and content Business. Jio Studios was established in 2018 and serves as the Reliance Industry’s division for the distribution of movies. They have so far made 50 movies, and they intend to continue to grow with 100 more. Deshpande claims that the Studio underwent a rigorous procedure that including receiving pitches, writing them, casting them, setting budgets, and producing them.

Deshpande also said “What we are seeing out there is a lot of Westernised content. Our idea is to have premium content that the Sobo (South Mumbai) audience is as comfortable watching as a person watching it in Kanpur. We want to make content inclusive and accessible. The idea is to make in India and show it to the world.”

Dunki

After a four years gap, the King of Romance Shahrukh Khan came and made India dance to his tunes with Pathan. His next project Jawan is already inching closer to release and now Jio Studios has announced Dunki from its kitty. JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films have come together to bring to you, the film ‘Dunki’ directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan. The film will release on December 22^nd.

Section 84

Amitabh Bachchan is considered a legend for a reason. The 80-year-old veteran superstar admits to being a workaholic and experimenting with different genres. Following the uplifting Uunchai, Big B will begin the courtroom thriller Section 84. Ribhu Dasgupta is the writer and director of the movie. The movie will be Big B and Ribhu’s third project together following Te3n (2016) and Yudh (an Indian television thriller miniseries broadcast in 2014). Big B himself announced the film on his Twitter page.

Bloody Daddy

Today, both Jio Studio and Shahid Kapoor teased his fans with his direct-to-digital movie Bloody Daddy. The gory teaser shows the audience what to expect from the movie. The movie seems to be full of action and blood trails. The movie is coming out from the new slate of originals from Jio Studio and the studio announced that it will premiere the movie on June 9, 2023. In the 1-minute 15-second teaser, Shahid is seen fighting thugs with knives, firearms, clubs, and what appears to be a raw mutton leg while wearing a black suit and an open-collared shirt. The graphic teaser for the movie promises “drugs, cops, family, and lots and lots of blood.”

Mumbaikar

The slate also has Santosh Shivan’s Mumbaikar which is the launch vehicle of Vijay Sethupathy in Bollywood. The movie also stars Vikrant Massey in a prominent role. The movie is adapted from a Telugu movie Maanagaram. Karan Johar and SS Rajamauli presented the first look of the movie last year. The movie was completed in 2021 only but due to covid situation never saw the theatres.

Additionally, Jio Studios revealed a multi-film partnership with renowned Bengali producer SVF Entertainment. The actors Prosenjit Chatterjee, Mithun Chakraborty, and Jisshu Sengupta, as well as the filmmakers Dhrubo Banerjee, Raj Chakraborty, Anirban Bhattacharya, Srijit Mukherji, and Suman Ghosh, will all be featured in the next films from this cooperation.
