Disney+ Hotstar is one of the leading streaming platforms in India. Its success stems from its extensive library of titles, including Marvel blockbusters like Captain Marvel and the Avengers and thousands of other films and series from well-known companies. There’s also the Hotstar Specials, which contains shows like Special Ops, The Office, and others. The Indian Premier League (IPL), as well as a range of other live sports such as the Premier League, Formula One, and Wimbledon, are also available exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
With the rising popularity of streaming services, telecom companies have chosen to bundle access to popular streaming platforms with their recharge plans. Reliance Jio, Bharati Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are among the few operators that bundle access to Disney+ Hotstar. We think Jio’s offering with the Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription is a better deal than plans from rivals, Airtel and Vi.
When it comes to picking a deal with a Disney+ Hotstar subscription from telecom carriers, there are a few things to consider – the primary prepaid plan’s duration, daily data offered, Disney+ Hotstar subscription validity, type of subscription, and more. In this article, let’s take a closer look at the Jio Disney+ Hotstar Premium prepaid plans and how it compares with the Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) prepaid plans.
Jio Rs 1,499 Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan vs Airtel vs Vodafone Plans
Telecom Operator | Plan Cost | Daily Data | Validity | Subscription |
Reliance Jio | Rs 1,499 | 2GB | 84 days | 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Premium |
Bharati Airtel | Rs 839 | 2GB | 84 days | 3-month Disney+ Hotstar Mobile |
Vodafone Idea | Rs 1,066 | 2GB | 84 days | 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Mobile |
Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio offers a Rs 1,499 prepaid recharge plan to its consumers that lasts for a period of 84 days. The plan offers 2GB of high-speed internet on a daily basis, post which the speed reduces to 64 Kbps; hence the total data included in the plan stands at 168 GB (2GB/day * 84 days).
Users also get unlimited voice calls and the ability to send 100 text messages a day with the plan. There are all the usual Jio goodies – access to JioTV, JioCinema, JioSecuirty and JioCloud along with a complimentary 1-year subscription to Disney+ Hotstar Premium.
While Airtel does not have a plan that directly competes with Jio, it does offer a prepaid recharge plan for Rs 839 that gives similar data and validity perks but only includes a three-month Disney+ Hotstar Mobile subscription.
Vodafone Idea’s recharge plan costs Rs 1,066 and includes 2GB of daily data, 100 SMS per day, an 84-day service validity period, and truly unlimited voice calls. The package includes a one-year membership to Disney+ Hotstar Mobile.
Jio Rs 4,199 Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan vs Airtel vs Vodafone Plans
Telecom Operator | Plan Cost | Daily Data | Validity | Subscription |
Reliance Jio | Rs 4,199 | 3GB | 365 days | 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Premium |
Bharati Airtel | Rs 3,359 | 2.5GB | 365 days | 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Mobile |
Vodafone Idea | Rs 3,099 | 2GB | 365 days | 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Mobile |
Jio has a Rs 4,199 plan that includes 1,095GB of data in total, which works out to 3GB of data every day for the entire validity of the plan, which is 365 days. Other perks remain similar to other plans from Jio, with truly unlimited calls, 100SMS per day, and access to JioTV, JioCinema, JioSecuirty and JioCloud. Jio’s Rs 4,199 prepaid recharge package includes a complimentary 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Premium membership.
Airtel’s equivalent prepaid plan costs Rs 3,359 and includes 2.5GB of daily data, about half a gigabyte less than Jio, a 365-day validity period, 100 SMS per day, and a 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Mobile subscription. You’ll also get a 30-day Amazon Prime Video ME trial, as well as three months of Apollo 24|7 Circle, Hellotunes, Wynk Music, and more services.
Vodafone Idea’s Rs 3,099 package includes data rollover on weekends, access to Vi Movies & TV, 100 SMS per day, 2GB data per day, unlimited calls, and a one-year subscription to Disney+ Hotstar Live TV shows and movies with a Mobile-only subscription.
Why it Make Sense to go for Jio Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plans
Now that you know what each of India’s three main telecom operators has to offer, you may be asking why I would pick Jio over Airtel or Vi since they both offer plans that look similar at lower prices?
You’re probably mistaken, as are many others! Jio’s Rs 1,499 and Rs 4,199 plans include a full year of Disney+ Hotstar Premium access, whilst Vi and Airtel just give Mobile-only access. There’s a difference between Disney+ Hotstar Premium and Disney+ Hotstar Mobile.
To give you an idea, the Mobile-only subscription offered by Airtel and Vi costs Rs 499 for a year and provides access to all content (movies, sports, TV, and specials), but it can only be streamed on a single mobile device and contains adverts to support revenue. The Mobile plan’s maximum video resolution and audio quality are also limited to HD (720p) and Stereo.
The Premium membership, which Jio is advertising, costs Rs 1,499 and gives you access to all of Disney+ Hotstar’s content on TV, laptop, and mobile. The maximum streaming resolution has been adjusted to 4K, and the number of devices that may be logged into the same account has increased from one to four.
Furthermore, if you combine Jio’s entire plan with all of its benefits for 84 days, including 2GB of data, unlimited calls, and more, with a one-year Disney+ Hotstar subscription, you will effectively pay only Rs 1,499. This is the cost of the Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription when purchased separately, effectively making data, calls, and SMSs completely free.
For example, Airtel’s Rs 3,359 plan becomes Rs 2,860 after subtracting the Rs 499 for the one-year Mobile plan, and when you tack on the premium Disney+ Hotstar plan, which costs Rs 1,499, you wind up paying Rs 4,359, which is more than Jio’s pricing. Then there’s the fact that Airtel’s plan offers 2.5GB of daily bandwidth vs Jio’s 3GB, resulting in more than 182GB lesser data over the course of a year.
When it comes to plans that include a Disney+ Hotstar subscription, Jio’s plans outperform Airtel and Vi’s offerings. Users may choose to recharge their Jio numbers with Rs 1,499 and Rs 4,199 prepaid plans directly through the MyJio app or Jio’s official website. The recharge plans are also available through various third-party apps and sites.
