Jio Phone 5G Gets Listed on BIS Certification Website, India Launch Expected Soon

The Jio Phone 5G which was earlier listed on Geekbench has now made an appearance on the BIS certification website signaling that the India launch is close.


It was recently revealed that Reliance Jio might be working on a new budget 5G smartphone as a new listing appeared on Geekbench listing website. The company which already launched a couple of Jio Phone models in the past including the Jio Phone Next in India is looking to expand the repertoire of device offerings.

The Jio Phone lineup is aimed at offering an affordable Android smartphone experience for first-time buyers and now it seems the company wants to add a 5G offering as well. With Reliance Jio going full steam ahead in rolling out its True 5G for consumers in India an affordable 5G smartphone will help it reach more people. The Jio Phone 5G has now made an appearance on the Bureau of Indian Standards certification website which means that it is coming soon to India. 

While the listing on Geekbench confirmed some key specifications of the upcoming Reliance Jio smartphone, the BIS listing only confirms the model number. Here’s a look at the Jio Phone 5G specifications, features and other details revealed ahead of launch.

Reliance Jio Phone 5G: What We Know so Far

The Reliance Jio Phone 5G which is expected to be announced soon has the model number LS1654QB5. The device apparently comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC codenamed Holi which essentially is the Snapdragon 480+ SoC,a budget 5G mobile chipset. The Jio Phone Next which launched in 2021 also featured a Qualcomm chipset as part of the company’s investment in Jio. The processor features an Adreno 619 GPU.

In terms of RAM the device is listed to feature a 4GB unit and we can expect it to offer at least 64GB of internal storage. Besides this, the Geekbench listing confirmed that the phone will run Android 12 out of the box with a forked version of Android on top, which Jio calls PragatiOS which is customised for the Indian user base with support for several local languages. The Jio Phone 5G has a score of 549 and 1661 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests.
