The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has affected many segments of the industry. Several noteworthy smartphone launches have been delayed until further notice because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This, however, has not stopped various telecom companies from trying their level best to help people. Yesterday, Bharti Airtel announced its prepaid pack validity extension and free Rs 10 talk time to over 80 million users across the country. Today, Reliance Jio has followed similar lines and has announced a set of benefits for its JioPhone users to assist them during the COVID-19 situation. Take a look at the Jio Phone benefits which Reliance Jio has introduced today.
Jio Phone Validity Extended: Free 100 Calling Minutes and SMS Till April 17
Reliance Jio today announced that its JioPhone users’ validity had been extended. As part of the company’s new gesture, Jio Phone users will be able to receive incoming calls and post the expiration of the plan’s validity. On top of that, users will get to enjoy free 100 minutes of calls and 100 SMS till April 17, 2020. Additionally, the company has recently announced a free JioFiber broadband connection in feasible areas (10Mbps). A double data benefit offer has also been recently announced for JioFiber users.
It is pretty evident that users are facing a lot of difficulties while recharging their Jio numbers, especially from physical stores because the stores are, well, not open because of the ongoing lockdown in the country, so this initiative by Reliance Jio for the Jio Phone users might turn out to be pretty helpful for the customers. Not only this, the company has also provided several alternatives to the customers to get their recharge done. Users can use various UPI-based payments, such as PayTM, Google Pay, PhonePe, Amazon Pay UPI, Mobile in, and Freecharge to recharge their Jio Phones or a standard Jio SIM card.
They can also get it done via a nearby ATM, a phone call, or an SMS. If you want to recharge your Jio Phone through SMS/call, Jio has made it possible by tying up with Axis Bank and ICICI Bank as banking partners. To recharge your Jio account using SMS or call, you need to follow the steps mentioned below:
- ICICI Bank: MTOPUP<space>JIO<space>10 digital mobile number <space>amount<space>Last 6 digits of bank account. Send this SMS to 9222208888
- AXIS Bank: MOBILE<space>10 digital mobile number<space>JIO <space>amount<space>Last 6 digits of bank account. Send this SMS to 9717000002/5676782
This is undoubtedly a nice initiative taken by Reliance Jio for its customers, especially those making use of a Jio Phone. We can only hope to see other telcos following suit and taking up several initiatives during these tough times. Furthermore, we would suggest and request our readers to stay safe and take all the precautionary measures during the lockdown period. Health should be treated with utmost priority, after all.
