Jio has introduced a new prepaid plan under its 1.5GB per day prepaid schemes. The latest plan is priced at Rs 119, and offers 1.5GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls to any network, 300 SMS messages and access to Jio’s content and services suite — for 14 days. Now, the telecom operator is reportedly extending the prepaid plan as a ‘buy one, get one’ offer for select users.

MySmartPrice can confirm that Jio users are getting the offer as a prompt on their MyJio app. It is not clear if all users are getting the prompt, or it is being rolled out to select users only. Under this offer, users who pay Rs 119 for the recharge will get the benefits of the plan as mentioned above, but for twice the validity.

This means that Jio users will get 1.5GB per day of 4G data, unlimited voice calls, access to Jio apps and services, and 600 SMS messages for 28 days — for the same price. The offer is likely a limited period one, and will also likely apply to users as a one-time offer to be availed. As a result, Jio users looking to recharge their accounts soon may want to look out for the promo notification to avail the deal.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see if Jio extends buy one, get one benefits across other plans as well. Telecom operators in India recently hiked their prepaid tariff by up to 25 percent, marking the first time that prepaid telecom tariff was majorly hiked in the country ever since the introduction of Reliance Jio’s services in 2016.

It will also be interesting to see how other telecom operators react to Jio’s offering. Airtel and Vodafone Idea may also offer similar promotional plans in a bid to attract more attention to their offerings — particularly in the high volume prepaid market.
