In India, Reliance Jio has launched its first prepaid package with a calendar month’s validity period. The new Rs 259 prepaid plan in India offers 1.5GB of high speed 4G internet per day, with unlimited local and STD calling and a cap of 100SMS/day.
Users who wished to recharge for a month before had to settle for the 28-day validity period. Now, with the calendar month prepaid pack, if a user recharges their smartphone on May 1st, the next recharge would be due on June 1st (exactly a month later). Let’s take a closer look at the new prepaid plan from Jio, its cost, benefits, and everything we know so far.
Jio Subscribers Can Now Renew Their Recharge Plans on the Same Day of Every Month
Both new and existing Jio users may get the Rs. 259 prepaid recharge plan through both online and offline channels. Benefits of the plan include 1.5GB of high-speed 4G data access, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages a day, and a complimentary subscription to Jio apps throughout its validity. It’s worth noting that the internet speed drops to 64Kbps once the data cap is breached.
The new plan is quite similar to the already available Rs 239 recharge option but has a slight twist. The Rs 259 option lasts for a calendar month compared to 28 days on the counterpart.
Jio’s recent action comes into effect after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) ordered telcos to provide at least one plan voucher, special tariff voucher, and one combo voucher with a validity of thirty days. Telecom operators were ordered to have those plans that renew on the same day of every month.
Rivals, Airtel and Vodafone also have a similar plan, with a 28-day validity period that costs Rs 299 and offers 1.5GB of daily 4G data. Jio previously introduced the Rs 1,499 prepaid plan with one year of free subscription of Disney+ Hotstar premium, 2GB of daily data, unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day for a period of 84 days.
