Reliance Jio has been in the news lately. The company on November 28 announced its revised pricing for the new Jio 4G packs in India. Prior to that, the telco launched the much-talked-about Jio Phone Next, which it developed with Google. There have been rumours of Jio entering different categories and expanding its product offerings in India, including a laptop. A new report now claims that the Mukesh Ambani-led telco will soon launch a new tablet and a smart TV as well. Reliance is said to be working on a Jio tablet and a Jio TV. The two electronic products are expected to launch in India sometime next year.

Jio tablet, TV reportedly in the works

The report by 91Mobiles, citing tipster Mukul Sharma, does not reveal any specifications of either product. It, however, claims that the Jio tablet will run PragatiOS, which is also found on the JioPhone Next. The custom Android skin was developed with Google exclusively for Jio Phone Next and comes with features like Read aloud, Translate, etc. It also supports many regional languages of India. Since it is a Jio tablet, we can expect it to come pre-loaded with all of the company’s apps like Jio Saavn, JioTV, Jio Cinema, etc., alongside Google apps.

The Jio smart TV, on the other hand, could bundle the set-top box that the company offers with the Jio Fiber broadband connection. It is possible that Jio launches the smart TV in different screen sizes. If so, we suspect the the TV could come in 32, 40, 43-inch screen sizes.

There is no word on the exact launch date of the two mentioned products. The report speculates the launch to be held sometime next year. Both products are likely to be budget offerings as well. As we mentioned earlier, Reliance Jio increased the price of its 4G prepaid plans in India. The Jio Phone plan, which was priced at Rs 75, will now cost Rs 91. Also, the unlimited plans will now start at Rs 155, as opposed to the previous recharge of Rs 129. You can click here to know more about the same.
