After introducing the affordable JioPhone Next in India last year, it looks like Jio is prepping up for the launch of the 5G smartphone. The upcoming smartphone by Jio is dubbed as the JioPhone 5G and it is tipped to launch later this year. While the design details of this upcoming handset remain unknown currently, we have its specifications coming in courtesy of Android Central’s report. JioPhone 5G Specifications Revealed
According to the information shared by an insider source with Android Central, the upcoming JioPhone Next will boast a 6.5-inch display with a HD+ 1600 x 720 pixel resolution. The device will come equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 processor. The handset will pack 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It will also have a microSD card support for further storage expansion.
Similar to the JioPhone Next, the JioPhone 5G will boot a customized version of Android 11 out of the box. The handset will have a Google Assistant support, read-aloud text feature, instant translation via Google Lens and Google Translate. The device will also include Jio’s digital suite of apps such as MyJio, JioTV, JioCinema, and JioSaavan.
In terms of the imaging department, the device will feature a dual-camera setup, which will consist of a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP macro sensor. The handset will flaunt a 8MP selfie camera. The device will be backed by a 5000mAh battery which will offer 18W fast charging support.
Connectivity-wise the device will offer Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, 5G, and dual-SIM card support. Speaking about the design aspect, the handset will have a modern design, thin bezels at the top and bottom, a hole-punch cutout, and rounded edges.
Android Central’s report further reveals that the JioPhone 5G is in the prototyping phase right now. The telco is said to be planning to launch multiple SKUs under the JioPhone 5G moniker, and the specifications shared above are of one of the model.
