Roughly translated to mean “Mystical Forest”, Kantara is a 2022 Indian action thriller movie. Rishab Shetty is the writer and director of this movie, which has been produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under the banner of Hombale Films. This movie is set and was filmed in the coastal Karnataka district of Keradi, with principal photography beginning in August 2021. Arvind S Kashyap handled the cinematography, with the music being scored by B Ajaneesh Loknath, and the action sequences handled by Vikram More. Dharani Gange Putra made her debut as a production designer.

Kantara has an interesting ensemble of characters essayed by some of the finest actors of our time. Kantara Storyline
The story goes back to 1847, when a king makes an agreement with a local deity to pledge a part of his forest land to the locals in exchange for happiness and peace granted by a shaman possessed by said deity. He warns that his family and successors must keep their word and not reclaim the land. Fast forward to 1970, the king’s successor asks the protagonist’s father to make the locals hand over the land to him, a request which is denied. Thus starts a series of complicated events. Involving the culture of Bhootha Kola and Kambla, we witness a human nature conflict where Shiva, the protagonist, is a rebel, defending his village and nature. Death leads to war between the villagers and evil forces. Will Shiva be able to reinstate peace in the village? Watch this movie and find out.
