Is a 3 Idiots sequel already in the works? Rajkumar Hirani who directed the movie that is still one of the biggest grossing movies in Bollywood, hinted at a sequel being in the works. The 2009 film starring Aamir Khan was well-liked, praised, and commercially successful. Would a sequel of 3 Idiots be able to achieve the same success as the original film?
The film 3 Idiots was off the beaten track and nothing like the typical Bollywood fare. The film was more about life, dreams, passion, and the struggle that surrounded the protagonists rather than being about a fairy tale romance or ferocious revenge. The narrative in 3 Idiots was compelling because it told the tale of young people and was similar to practically everyone’s experience of engineering colleges. Given the inherently fresh subject matter it was based on, the movie did amazingly well at the box office and won fans of all ages.
There have been recent rumors that a sequel to the film is being produced, and Rajkumar Hirani verified these rumors in a media interview while promoting Sanju in 2018. Although Hirani withheld information on the sequel’s specifics, he has stated that he is delighted to continue the franchise. He added that he and his co-writer Abhijaat Joshi were working on something. But since everything is still in in a nascent stage, he chose not to go into more detail on that. He insisted that they had only recently begun writing and that it would take some time for it to become a complete script.

Now, Kareena Kapoor Khan has once again ignited the debate about the sequel of 3 Idiots. In a post on Instagram, she hinted that a sequel could already be in the process and found it surprising that she didn’t know about it. In the reel, she posts an image of Aamir, Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in a press conference and questions what they are up to. She further says that even Boman Irani is unaware of the move and says that all three actors are planning a sequel and that too without her.
This has once again ignited the imaginations of the fans of the film and a debate on the sequel of the film has begun.
The tale of the three fools was one that everyone identified with in some way. It was the ideal fusion of love, friendship, goals, passion, hardship, parent-child relationships, and much more. It gracefully encapsulated all of life’s emotions. The filmmaker has not yet indicated whether or if the same actors would appear in the 3 idiots sequel. Yet, it would be fantastic if it presented the same scenario so that viewers could actually relate to each character in the film. Each actor, from Madhavan to Sharman Joshi to Aamir Khan, captured a piece of our hearts with their work and the parts they played.
