A new electric scooter has made its way to the Indian market and this one comes from the Pune-based EV firm Kinetic Green Energy. The new e-scooter comes as an upgrade to an existing model of the company and is called the Kinetic Zing HSS, where the abbreviation stands for High Speed Scooter. The new electric vehicle by Kinetic Green has been priced at Rs 85,000 (ex-showroom), including the subsidy under the FAME-II scheme.
With the new Kinetic Green Zing HSS, the company targets young riders in India and for this, it comes with many of the features we see on new-age electric two-wheelers. Examples of this include multi-speed mode, part failure indicator, an adjustable suspension, and a regenerative braking system.
The list of features continues, with the likes of a multi-functional dashboard that displays the battery levels, part-failure, trip meter, and ready and parking indicator. The electric scooter also comes with cruise control, a speed switch mechanism for switching between riding modes, a smart remote key, and a USB port.
As for the battery specifics, the Kinetic Green Zing HSS comes with a 60V, 28Ah lithium-ion battery that promises a range of about 120km on a single charge. The company claims that the battery takes just about 3 hours for a full charge. It also offers a warranty of 3 years on the battery.
Kinetic Green Zing HSS can reach a top speed of 49kmph, thanks to its 1.2KW electric motor. The electric scooter employs 3×10 inches of tubeless tyres and uses disc brakes on both ends for braking. The ground clearance had been measured at 160 mm and the e-scooter maxes out its loading capacity at 150 kgs.
The Zing HSS comes as the third electric scooter offering by Kinetic Green in India. It has been priced at Rs 85,000 and is available in a total of three colour options – Red, Blue, and White.
Going forward, the company plans to launch yet another electric scooter in the coming financial year. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, founder and CEO of Kinetic Green Energy confirmed at the launch of the Zing HSS that the company will be launching its e-Luna electric scooter in the financial year 2023. Kinetic Green will be making use of its 300 exclusive dealers in India to sell these e-scooters.
It will be interesting to see how well the Kinetic Green Zing HSS is received in India. For now, it seems to be an attractive proposition with its list of features and a price point of well below Rs 1 lakh.
