Whether you’re a budding YouTuber, a freelance video editor, or someone trying out filmmaking, finding the right laptop for video editing is a tough task among the sea of options. You want enough raw power to handle heavy editing timelines, smooth playback for 4K footage, and a display that doesn’t make your colour grading look off once it hits the big screen.
Some of the aspects that make a laptop great for video editing are typically found in gaming or high-performance models and can cost quite a bit. So in this list, we’ve rounded up the best laptops under Rs 1 lakh in India that can actually handle real-world video editing tasks which might involve multiple templates and animations. These aren’t just gaming laptops with fancy GPUs; they can function as well-rounded machines tuned for creative workflows.
How Did We Select These Laptops?
Video editing is a demanding task for any laptop. So when picking the models for this list, we focused on a few key areas, namely performance, features, and overall usability. First off, we prioritised H-series chips from both Intel and AMD. These are high-performance CPUs that usually come with more cores and offer better-sustained power for heavy workloads.
Since video editing often involves working with high-resolution footage (think 4K) or multiple video layers, you’ll also need smooth real-time playback and fast rendering. That’s where a dedicated GPU comes in. The laptops we’ve selected either pack an RTX 4000 series graphics card or, at the very least, powerful integrated graphics that can hold their own for 1080p projects.
We’ve also kept the memory at 16GB as a minimum, with the RAM also being fast. Dedicated creator laptops can be quite expensive, so not all displays here meet the sRGB standards, however, most of the models listed below are a step above regular laptop screens in terms of colour accuracy.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 (Intel Core i7-13620H + RTX 4050)
First up is the Asus TUF Gaming F15, which is a proper gaming laptop that brings a strong CPU and GPU combo to the table with the Intel Core i7-13620H and Nvidia RTX 4050. It’s also equipped with 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, which is plenty for smooth editing workflows. But what really sets this model apart is its massive 90Wh battery.
Most gaming laptops skimp on battery capacity since they’re usually used while plugged in. However, the TUF Gaming F15 breaks that trend, making it a solid pick for editors who might need to work on the move. The larger battery means you can keep editing longer without scrambling for a charger.
Apple MacBook Air M4
We couldn’t put this list together without including at least one option for those in the Apple ecosystem. Unfortunately, the MacBook Pro goes well over this budget, unless you manage to snag an older M2 model through a discount or second-hand deal. That leaves us with the 2025 MacBook Air, which is the latest MacBook currently under Rs 1 lakh — also one of the most value-for-money deals in the market right now.
While the fanless design means performance may throttle during extended heavy workloads, the new Apple M4 chip is still a powerhouse for both productivity and light-to-moderate video editing. It features a solid CPU and an 8-core GPU that can handle most editing tasks without much trouble.
Apple includes 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the base variant, which is priced at Rs 99,900. The laptop has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2560 x 1664, support for the P3 wide colour gamut, and Apple’s True Tone tech for more natural visuals. Another highlight is its portability, weighing just 1.24 kilograms. This also makes it the lightest laptop on our list, so it’s a perfect choice for editors on the go.
Lenovo LOQ 2024 (AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS + Nvidia RTX 4060)
We’ve already covered the Lenovo LOQ lineup in our list of the best gaming laptops under Rs 70,000, but this higher-end variant is also a great pick for video editing. This Lenovo LOQ 2024 model is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS and Nvidia RTX 4060, a powerful CPU and GPU combo that can handle demanding editing workflows. But what really makes this model stand out is its fast DDR5 memory and colour-accurate display.
While having more RAM is always helpful, faster memory speeds are beneficial for creative tasks as well. The LOQ features 24GB of 4800MHz DDR5 RAM along with 512GB of SSD storage. On the front, it sports a 15.6-inch IPS LCD panel that offers FHD resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and most importantly, a 100 per cent sRGB colour gamut. sRGB is the standard colour space for digital media, making it ideal for accurate colour grading and video editing. You can get your hands on the Lenovo LOQ 2024 for Rs 98,765.
Lenovo Yoga Slim 6 (i7-13700H)
For editors who are often on the move, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 6 is a solid option. It’s powered by an Intel Core i7-13700H processor, paired with Iris Xe integrated graphics and 16GB of 5200MHz LPDDR5 RAM. While it doesn’t feature a dedicated GPU, the standout here is the high-performance CPU packed into a slim and lightweight chassis.
The Yoga Slim 6 weighs just 1.35 kilograms, making it incredibly easy to carry. To sweeten the deal, it comes with a gorgeous OLED display offering a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and Dolby Vision support. Other highlights include a premium aluminium build, Dolby Atmos speakers, and a 1.49cm thickness, making it both stylish and practical. Lenovo currently sells this notebook for Rs 90,000.
MSI Katana A17 AI (AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS + RTX 4050)
If you’re someone who needs top-tier performance, check out the MSI Katana A17 AI. This variant comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor, making it more than capable of handling 4K video editing with ease. It’s paired with an Nvidia RTX 4050, 16GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD, delivering serious horsepower for demanding editing workloads.
The laptop also features a large 17.3-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and Full HD resolution, giving you plenty of screen real estate. However, it does fall short when it comes to colour accuracy, as it only supports 45% of the NTSC colour gamut. So this is something to keep in mind for colour-sensitive work. But, there’s a workaround as well. If you have a colour-accurate monitor with you, you can use the Katana as your editing rig while the monitor gives you good visuals. Another trade-off is its 2.6-kilogram weight. The MSI Katana A17 AI was recently listed at Rs 99,990, so definitely keep an eye out for this one as it should get restocked soon.
HP Victus (Intel Core i7-13720H + RTX 4060)
Just like the MSI Katana, the HP Victus also falls short when it comes to colour accuracy, but it makes up for it with a solid CPU + GPU combo. Powered by the Intel Core i7-13720H and Nvidia RTX 4060, this laptop is a great pick for both gaming and 4K video editing.
You also get 16GB of 3200MHz RAM and a generous 1TB SSD, giving you plenty of room for large video projects. The HP Victus (fa1333tx) is currently priced at Rs 90,990, which is pretty competitive for this hardware. On top of that, it packs a decent 70Wh battery and even includes one month of Xbox PC Game Pass, which is a nice little bonus if you’re into gaming on the side.
Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 (Intel Core Ultra 9 185H)
There’s another Lenovo model worth checking out in the Rs 1 lakh range. The IdeaPad Pro 5 is a flagship-grade thin and light laptop that features the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H chip, delivering seriously impressive performance and great power efficiency. You’re missing out on a dedicated GPU, but the integrated Intel Arc graphics is a noticeable step up from Iris Xe. This model also boasts the highest RAM capacity on this list, with 32GB of 7467MHz LPDDR5X memory, making it ideal for heavier multitasking and editing workloads.
The display is another highlight: a 14-inch OLED panel with 2.8K resolution, 400 nits peak brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage, which is excellent for colour-accurate work. Powering all of this is a fairly large 84Wh battery, promising solid battery life for editors who like to work unplugged. Interestingly, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 is currently listed at Rs 1,09,990, but it typically retails for around Rs 99,900, so look out for the eventual price drop.
Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED (AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370)
As the name suggests, the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED features a stunning 14-inch OLED display with a 2.8K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio, and 400 nits of peak brightness. It’s a sleek and lightweight machine, weighing just 1.3 kilograms, with an aluminium chassis, a solid 75Wh battery, and even RGB keyboard lighting. But the real highlight of the laptop is under the hood: the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED is equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor.
This is hands-down the fastest chipset on this list, offering cutting-edge performance with 50 TOPS of NPU power for AI tasks and excellent power efficiency. It also comes with Radeon 890M integrated graphics, which is currently one of the most powerful iGPUs available. Rounding out the package, you get 24GB of 7500MHz LPDDR5X RAM (the fastest memory in this category) and 512GB of SSD storage. The Vivobook S 14 OLED is priced at Rs 104,990. It is slightly above the Rs 1 lakh budget, but the sheer value is worth the stretch.
