MSI has launched its X870 and X870E motherboards, which are compatible with the latest AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processors. The company has unveiled its new motherboards under four lineups: MEG, MPG, MAG, and Pro Series. These have new thermal designs for heat dissipation and support PCIe Gen 5 and Wi-Fi 7. Here are the details.

MSI X870 and X870E Motherboards: Features

The MSI X870 and X870 motherboards are based on the AM5 socket. These can be paired with the AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processors out of the box. The motherboards are available in the following configurations:

  • MSI Enthusiast Gaming (MEG): These motherboards have a Godlike-inspired design featuring a wavy fin design. They are covered with heatsinks and have a premium and neat finish. The motherboards also have RGB lighting and a dragon design, which adds more flair to the gaming DNA.
  • MSI Performance Gaming (MPG): This series also comes with smaller heatsinks compared to MEG. They have a carbon-style finish with a heat-pipe design over thermal management.
  • MSI Arsenal Gaming (MAG): The MAG lineup has 7W/mK thermal pads over the M.2 slots. The size of the heatsink is comparatively smaller with most capacitors being visible. These are more affordable than the MEG and MPG motherboards.
  • MSI Pro Series: The MSI Pro Series offers all the pro-grade specifications seen in the other three lineups. It comes with a single extended heatsink around the I/O components. These are the most affordable motherboards of the lot that offer the best value for your money, with no compromises in performance.
