Earlier today, Lenovo had announced the brand new S5 Pro at an event in China. Alongside this device, the company also unveiled two new K series smartphones. The Lenovo K5 Pro and Lenovo K5s are the latest budget phones from the Chinese manufacturer. Both these devices have dual-front facing and rear cameras, which is the only common feature between the two. The two phones are quite different, both internally and externally. To be honest, we weren’t expecting Lenovo to announce any other products at the event, so this comes as a pleasant surprise.
Lenovo K5 Pro Specifications and Price
The Lenovo K5 Pro is the larger variant of the two, and therefore also sports slightly better specifications. It features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Interestingly, there’s no notch here, so you get fairly sizeable bezels at the top and bottom. The phone, however, makes up for that by employing aluminium construction. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor, which is coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The standout feature of this budget phone, is the dual-front camera setup. It has a 16MP primary sensor at the front, paired with a 5MP depth unit. At the back, there’s a similar camera setup, with a 16MP+5MP combo. You get AI features such as Beauty shot, portrait mode, scene recognition, and more. A sufficiently large 4050mAh battery powers the K5 Pro with built-in support for fast charging as well. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back, and you get bottom firing speakers with Dirac sound; just like the Lenovo S5 Pro.
The phone is exclusive to China as of now, with prices starting at 998 Yuan for the variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The top-end model, which has 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, will cost you 1198 Yuan. You can also reserve this phone from the official Lenovo China site. It will be available in two colour choices: Black and Gold.
Lenovo K5s Specifications and Price
The K5s is a slightly less powerful and cheaper variant of the K5 Pro. It is equipped with the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The phone has a 5.7-inch HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. For cameras, you get dual sensors on the front, as well as the back. The camera setups are similar on the front and the back, with a primary 13MP sensor, paired with a 5MP depth sensor. Once again, AI will assist in snapping better portraits, selfies, and photographs. The phone is backed by a 3090mAh battery and it runs the latest ZUI based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Lenovo K5s is sold as a variant, and it is priced at 798 yuan, which is about Rs. 8,500. The phone will be available in two color options; Black and Blue.
Lenovo has targeted these phones at the youth, especially those who like to shoot plenty of selfies. Once again, smartphones in this price segment, don’t usually ship with dual cameras on the front. The K5 Pro is a great deal because it also has a large battery. If and when these phones are launched in India, they should perform fairly well.
