Lenovo ‘Killer’ K9, A5 Launched in India as Flipkart Exclusive at Price Starting Rs. 5,999: Specifications, Features

The Lenovo A5 is priced aggressively, and so is the Lenovo K9. At just Rs 8,999, the 'killer' handset, as mentioned by the company at the launch event, does offer a whole lot of value for money, beginning with dual front and rear cameras.

Lenovo today, on October 16 has taken the wraps off from two of its new smartphones, calling them both ‘killer’ handsets at a launch event in India. The Lenovo K9 and Lenovo A5 come to India as Flipkart exclusives, with the Lenovo A5 being priced quite aggressively, at just Rs 5,999. In particular, Lenovo has called the A5 a ‘budget champion’, while the Lenovo K9 comes as a mid-range ‘killer’ with a quad camera setup as its USP. The Lenovo K9 is priced at Rs. 8,999. Lenovo A5 Key Features and Specs

The budget handset comes with a 5.45-inch full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels. The battery of the device is a massive 4000mAh ‘two-day battery’ which is additionally aided by AI-power management and 10W fast charging support. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core chipset (It is still unspecified. We will update the information once confirmed) and gets 2GB and 3GB RAM models, with the 2GB RAM variant getting 16GB of internal storage and the 3GB variant getting 32GB storage. There is also a third and dedicated microSD card slot for stretching the storage to 256GB more, and, of course, there is dual-SIM 4G support.

The rear camera is 13MP and it gets slow-motion video recording as well as panorama image modes. The selfie camera is 8MP and it gets bokeh effect thanks to AI. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, as well as a front camera-based Face Unlock feature, and the handset will ship in Black and Gold colors.


The Lenovo A5 will sell on Flipkart at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB+16GB base variant, and for Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB + 32GB model.

Lenovo ‘Killer’ K9 Key Features

The Lenovo K9, like the A5, does not get a notch for the display, and instead follows the 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset ships with a 5.7-inch HD+ full-screen display, with a dual front camera packed into a thin bezel at the top. The front and rear cameras both get the same 13MP+5MP setup, with AI features such as India-specific beautification features, soft flash, backlight improvement, and low-light enhancement. The Lenovo ‘Killer’ K9 gets a dual 2.5D curved glass and will come in Blue and Black colors. It is powered by a 2.0GHz Mediatek Helio P22 octa-core chipset and gets only one RAM option: 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage.

The dual-SIM setup for this handset is of Hybrid type, so you can add a 128GB memory card but will have to sacrifice using the second SIM card. Unlike the Lenovo A5, the Lenovo K9 gets VoLTE support. Like the Lenovo A5, the Lenovo K9 also gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a front camera-based Face Unlock feature, which is claimed to perform the unlocking job in just 0.3 seconds. The Lenovo K9 also gets a Type-C reversible USB port and connector, a rarity in this price range, and a 3000mAh battery with 10W fast charge support.

The Lenovo K9 comes in only one variant: 3GB RAM plus 32GB internal storage, for Rs. 8,999 at Flipkart. Lenovo has not given a date of sale yet, and Flipkart has not listed the two handsets on its website at the time of this writing. We shall keep you posted when the phones are available for sale.
