Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Lenovo, had already sent out media invites for a smartphone launch event in India. The launch is happening tomorrow in New Delhi, and we now have a new teaser. The latest teaser comes from Flipkart, who has now launched a page on its website. It doesn’t reveal any details about the phone as such, but recent rumors and reports have suggested that it could either be the Lenovo Z5 or a K8 Note successor. Read on to know more about the teaser and other aspects of the new Lenovo phone.
Lenovo Phone Dubbed Killer 2.0 is a Flipkart Exclusive
So, on Flipkart, the teaser shows a product that is called Killer 2.0. It then tells us that the phone will have a killer design, and a killer camera. Now, that doesn’t really tell us anything about the phone, its name, or specifications. However, previous rumors have mentioned that Lenovo could be launching the Z5 in the country.
Now, since the teaser mentions Killer 2.0, it could be a clue about the name of the phone. Some rumors have suggested that the Lenovo Z5 could be launched as a K series phone in India. And Killer 2.0 could mean that it is indeed a K series smartphone from Lenovo. The K8 Note was a very good phone from the company, so this could be the successor.
The Lenovo Z5 is an efficient smartphone, which is powered by the Snapdragon 636 processor with up to 6GB of RAM. The new K series phone or whatever Lenovo goes on to call it, will have the same processor. It will also come with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display, which will have a notch at the top. The phone will have a glass back, and an aluminium frame. As for cameras, a dual-rear camera setup with 16MP+8MP sensors is expected. On the front, an 8MP sensor will take care of selfies. A 3300mAh battery will keep the lights on, and the phone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo with ZUI on top.
What to Expect from Tomorrow’s Launch?
We can expect Lenovo to launch a new mid-range smartphone, as mentioned above. The name hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we expect it to be a rebranded Lenovo Z5. The phone will compete against the likes of the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, Mi A2, the Realme 2 Pro, and the Honor 8X. Expect it to be priced in India around Rs. 15,000 for the base variant.
While the new Lenovo phone will definitely be a looker, if it’s anything like the rumors suggest, it will still have to compete with phones from Xiaomi, Realme, and Honor. All of these brands have solid phones in the same segment, and some of them have better features as well. So, Lenovo will have to aggressively price its new phone, if it really wants to win over the competition.
