We have officially entered that era of technology where OEMs would do anything to make their smartphones stand out. We have witnessed a slew of smartphones this year that come with one or more outstanding features, be it massive RAM capacity or high-end camera setup involving up to four lenses. Talking about the latest entrants in this clique, we have the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition, which as the name suggests, has two displays. Then we have the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition that includes 10GB of RAM. Last but not least, we have the most recently announced Lenovo Z5 Pro GT that has 12GB of RAM. In this article, we will be pitting these phones against each other to see which one is the best.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT vs Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition vs OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Price in India
Except for the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, the other two smartphones are yet to launch in India. So, our pricing barometer for these phones is based on the conversion rate of CNY to INR. There are chances that Vivo and Lenovo bring them to India at lower pricing. The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition price in India is INR 50,999 for the 10GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and INR 45,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version. Concerning the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, the phone is launched at CNY 4,398 (roughly INR 45,100) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant while the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition is launched at CNY 4,998 (roughly INR 52,300) for the 10GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. In this comparison, we will be comparing the top-end variants of these phones.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT vs Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition vs OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Display, Design
Beginning with the display and design comparison, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT features a 6.39-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display at 1080×2340 pixels resolution with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The phone boasts a sporty and sturdy look with carbon fiber finish in Carbon Black colour. The phone has Red framing around the sides making it look quite premium as well. The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT does not have a notch and offers a full-screen functionality. It packs a slider design that houses the front camera alongside a system that enables Infrared (IR) Face Unlock feature. Talking about biometrics, the phone also has an In-display fingerprint sensor.
The next in line is the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition that brings its innovative dual-screen design to the play. The phone has two AMOLED display panels, one on the rear and one at the front. It has no notch on the front screen and neither a front camera, the rear camera works for both rear shots and front shots. The front AMOLED screen has a 6.39-inch full-HD+ display with 1080×2340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio while the rear AMOLED panel settles for a 5.49-inch full-HD display bearing 1080×1920 pixels resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. There is no unique designing here, just a phone with two screens. The front screen also includes an In-display fingerprint sensor.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition packs a 6.41-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen with 1080×2340 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Design-wise, the phone has a classy carbon fiber pattern under the glass rear panel. The bottom edge of the phone is adorned with the McLaren’s signature Papaya Orange color. This design would be a treat for the buyers who are F1 fans.
All the three phones have innovative design elements. However, going by the pricing and keeping the durability aspect in mind, we think that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has a more convincing design and screen. The Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition has got us thinking about its durability as one can’t even use a cover on this one as that will eliminate the presence of a second screen altogether. The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition sure looks good, but its pricing is quite stretched.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT vs Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition vs OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Performance, Software
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC based on the 7nm manufacturing process. This chipset from Qualcomm is claimed to deliver superfast performance than the previous chipsets in the 800-series. The phone has up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. On the software side of things, the phone runs Android 9.0 Pie-based ZUI 10.0.
An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor powers the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition alongside 10GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage. The phone runs Android 9.0 Pie-based Funtouch OS 4.5. While the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clubbed with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The phone runs Android 9.0 Pie-based OxygenOS.
Well, it is quite obvious that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT wins this battles hands down with its whopping 12GB RAM and Snapdragon 855 chipset under the hood. In terms of software, we think we like the OxygenOS better than the ZUI and FunTouch OS.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT vs Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition vs OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition: Camera, Battery
Coming to the camera department, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has a 16MP+24MP dual-camera setup at the rear with dual-tone LED flash and f/1.8 aperture. There is a 16MP+8MP dual-camera setup on the front too with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera sits on the slider that pops up whenever it is to be used. Pretty much like the Oppo Find X. A 3350mAh battery backs the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT.
The Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition has a triple-camera setup on the rear with a 12MP primary sensor, a 2MP secondary sensor, and a TOF 3D stereo camera as the third sensor. There is no front camera on this phone as the rear camera acts as the front and rear camera both. A 3500mAh battery backs the smartphone with 22.5W fast charging support.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition sports a 16MP+20MP dual-rear cameras with dual LED flash and many other features. There is a 16MP selfie snapper on the front with a f/2.0 aperture. A 3700mAh battery completes the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition with support for Warp Charge 30 that is claimed to offer a day’s worth of backup in just 20 minutes of charge.
Well, yet again, the Lenovo Z5 Pro takes the cake with its better cameras. The OnePlus 6T comes second here. The Vivo Nex Dual Display does not have a very impressive setup here.
