A new smartphone from Lenovo is all set to launch tomorrow, on December 18, 2018. A teaser image from the company has indicated that the Lenovo Z5s will be launching in China tomorrow. There have been plenty of leaks and rumors regarding this phone so far. Just today, the phone appeared on Geekbench with Android 9.0 Pie on board. This means that Lenovo will most likely be launching this phone with Google’s latest smartphone operating system version.

Now, a new leak suggests that there will be a second variant of the phone called the Lenovo Z5s Ferrari SuperFast Edition. This special edition would be a powerhouse and include more than 10GB of RAM.

Lenovo Z5s Ferrari SuperFast Edition

The Lenovo Z5s will be the first phone from the Chinese firm to feature a punch-hole display camera on the front and a triple-camera setup at the rear. It is rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset. However, there have been reports of Lenovo launching a second special edition smartphone alongside the standard variant. According to a new leak, this special edition variant of the phone will be called the Lenovo Z5s Ferrari SuperFast and will have a whopping 12GB of RAM. That’s a lot of RAM, and probably will prove to be completely unnecessary.

Apart from having surplus amounts of RAM, the special edition Z5s is also said to come with the flagship Snapdragon 845 processor. As for storage, the leaked image shows that the device comes with 128GB of internal storage. While the RAM is the most we’ve seen on a smartphone so far, the internal storage could have been better. For example, OnePlus recently released the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, which features 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Even the Galaxy Note 9 comes with up to 512GB of internal storage and that can be further expanded using a 512GB microSD card, bringing the total possible storage on the Galaxy Note 9 to 1TB.

If this leak is true, then the Lenovo Z5s Ferrari SuperFast would be the first smartphone in the world to feature 12GB of RAM. Technically speaking, this much RAM is pretty much an overkill. Unless, Lenovo has found a way to utilize all that RAM efficiently, 12GB of RAM is just as good as having 8GB of RAM. Users will not notice any speed improvements over other variants that have comparatively less RAM.

Lenovo Z5s Color Variants Leaked

Ahead of the launch of the Lenovo Z5s, the company has posted some teaser images that show the color variants of the phone. The teasers reveal that the device will be available in three color options with gradient finish: Coral Orange, Quite Blue, and Starry Night. Except for the Black variant, both the other colors will have gradient finishes that should appeal to the younger audience. The teaser images also confirm that the phone will indeed have a triple-rear camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Lenovo Z5s will supposedly come with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display and a 3210mAh battery, according to various online listings. As for the cameras, rumors suggest that the phone will feature a 13MP+5MP+2MP sensor setup at the back and an 8MP front unit. These are the specifications for the variant with the Snapdragon 710 chipset. The Ferrari SuperFast Edition will supposedly have the Snapdragon 845 chipset, and it could also feature better cameras on the front and the rear, and a bigger battery. This variant could feature a Ferrari Red color as well. We will have to wait till tomorrow to find out if this leak is true or just another fake.
