The Lenovo Z5s, which was scheduled to be launched on December 6 originally, will actually be announced a bit later this week. Lenovo VP Chang Cheng has today shared a new poster on his official Weibo account leaving us with some interesting clues about the upcoming smartphone’s processor.
Lenovo also walks the Samsung route by taking a jibe at Xiaomi in the same poster. We haven’t been short of information regarding the handset but the CPU is one intriguing area which still remains a mystery. Take a look at the poster below.
New Lenovo Z5s Teaser Takes A Jibe at Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite
The earliest rumors suggested that Lenovo would be the first to market with the Snapdragon 855 processor as the Lenovo Z5s was then thought to be coming on 06 December. However, none of that came to pass. However, a previous poster from the company seemed to reveal the Lenovo Z5s would house a new Snapdragon 678 CPU. The new teaser comes just two days after that and seems to suggest that the new processor could be a Snapdragon 710 SoC based on the 10nm process.
Now, do note that this is not written in plain words but an assumption from the company’s dig at Xiaomi. The poster asks, and this is an implied version, that the Mi 8 Lite (Youth) comes with just a Snapdragon 6xx series processor? The question is just meant to indicate that the processor is not as good for gaming as what Lenovo has in store with the Lenovo Z5s. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a Snapdragon 710 but it means that it will not be a 6xx series processor like the one in the previous Lenovo poster. Besides, the Snapdragon 678 isn’t even official yet while the Snapdragon 710 is already in use on many Chinese handsets.
Lenovo Z5s Expected Specifications
Besides the new poster, the Lenovo Z5s is confirmed to be coming with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. It will be overlayed by the latest ZUI software which was recently bought back from the dead by the company. Furthermore, the triple-camera is also confirmed by an official teaser, and from all pointers, the handset seems to be the L78071 that has bagged TENAA, MIIT certification. This will be Lenovo’s first triple-camera device and also the first Lenovo handset with the in-screen camera design. Some image samples shared on social media also teased the quality of the triple-camera a few days ago. As visible from TENAA images, there’s a hole in the top-centre of the front display and these TENAA images pretty much confirm the design of the handset.
The Lenovo Z5s is thought to feature a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 2240×1080 pixels. There will be an in-display camera but the fingerprint reader will occupy a place on the rear of the handset (and we think it’s for the best). With regards to camera configuration, speculation is that it will consist of a 13MP+5MP+2MP sensor. Additional details are not yet known. The front is expected to house a single 8MP sensor. The battery is believed to be a 3210mAh juice pack that will also be equipped with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The Lenovo Z5s will be announced at Lenovo Global Headquarters in Beijing on December 18. According to Chinese media sources, a Zhu Yi Long Special Edition of Lenovo Z5s, will also be announced at the same time.
