There is no denying that LG’s smartphone business has not seen too many good days lately and the company is aiming to avoid such times moving forward. In order to achieve the same, the brand recently announced a revamp of its product lineup. Notably, the LG G series of smartphones is soon going to be replaced by an all-new design-focused LG Velvet series of smartphones. Last week, we were able to collect some intel surrounding the upcoming LG Velvet lineup of smartphones. We came across a report suggesting that the LG Velvet would feature a unique “Raindrop” camera design and a symmetrical design language. “Our new branding reflects current trends of addressing the unique personal tastes and emotions of the individual with a greater emphasis on design,” said Chang Ma, senior vice president of product strategy at LG Mobile Communications Company. Now, LG has released a promotional video for its revitalized smartphone lineup, which showcases the first entrant in the LG Velvet lineup in all its glory. Take a look at some screenshots that have been taken from the promotional video and find out what we know about the LG Velvet smartphone so far.

LG Velvet: Everything We Know So Far

Yesterday, LG posted a promotional video (titled ‘LG Velvet – Design”) on its Korean YouTube channel. The promotional video for the LG Velvet shows off its “3D Arc Design” and “Raindrop” rear camera setup.

As seen in the images, the LG Velvet will feature a triple rear camera setup. The cameras are vertically arranged and are kept apart from each other, unlike the traditional rectangular/square/circular modules that we are used to seeing lately. The cameras are placed in descending order as per their size and, as per LG, are intended to mimic the image of a falling raindrop, hence the name Raindrop camera. The LG Velvet features a symmetrically curved display and rear, which the company is calling a “3D Arc Design”.

The LG Velvet will sport a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom. There will be a dual stereo speaker setup – one at the bottom and one at the top bezel of the device. On the right side of the device, the LG Velvet will feature a power button, while on the left side, there will be the volume up and down buttons. Additionally, the LG Velvet will feature a dedicated Assistant button on the left side (below the volume rocker), which is pretty much the case with almost all the LG devices lately.

At the top of the device, one can spot the SIM card try, while at the bottom, there’s a USB Type-C port. The device comes in three color variants – Aurora White, Aurora Grey, and Aurora Green. Moving around on the front of the device, the LG Velvet features a waterdrop notch display.

Under the hood, the LG Velvet will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor, which is Qualcomm’s upper mid-range offering to the 5G realm.

As far as the rest of the specifications of the device are concerned, though not officially confirmed, word has it that the LG Velvet will feature a 48MP primary camera. It will sport a display size ranging from 6.7-inch to 6.9-inch. The LG Velvet is said to boast a 4,000mAh battery with support for fast charging.

As of now, this is pretty much everything we know about the LG Velvet smartphone, but we are sure to receive more information about the same in the coming days. Whenever we do, we will keep you posted on the same.
