Linda Yaccarino is set to assume her role as the new CEO of Twitter today. She is taking over the reins from billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk who acquired the social media platform last year. He will now be focusing on product design and new technology at Twitter alongside his other ventures Space X and Tesla. Both will work together to create what Musk refers to as “Twitter 2.0” or “X, the everything app”.
Linda Yaccarino – New Twitter CEO: Everything to Know
Elon Musk first expressed his intention to resign from the position of Twitter CEO in December 2022. It was after he received major and consistent backlash from around the world due to many of his rash decisions ever since he became the owner of the social media company. Some of these include firing the majority of the workforce, allowing anyone to get verified on Twitter by paying a monthly fee, re-instating previously suspended controversial accounts, and more.
Eventually, Musk announced Linda Yaccarino as the new Twitter CEO on May 12th, 2023. He tweeted that she will focus primarily on business operations and will help him transform this platform into X, the everything app. Yaccarino went on to thank him for the opportunity and said, “I’ve long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future. I’m excited to help bring this vision to Twitter and transform this business together!”

Yaccarino’s previous stint was with NBCUniversal where she worked as the head of global advertising. She reportedly started her journey at the company as an intern but climbed up the corporate ladder during the past 11 years. During the stint, she worked with various major clients and helped her employer generate over USD 100 billion in ad sales. She is a Pennsylvania State University graduate and holds a degree in Liberal Arts and telecommunications.
What’s next for Linda Yaccarino as the new Twitter CEO?
As mentioned in the beginning, Yaccarino’s primary responsibilities include making Twitter what Musk wants it to be. Her expertise in the advertising space will surely prove to be crucial for Twitter as the platform saw a significant drop in ad revenue ever since Musk’s acquisition. Many of its biggest advertisers pulled out in the last few months but with a new CEO, Twitter would hope to see most of them, if not all, coming back.
Yaccarino has also brought her trusted advisor Joe Benarroch to Twitter to achieve these goals. Benarroch was also an NBCUniversal top executive where he worked as the SVP of Communications, Advertising and Partnerships. He will be a part of the Business Operations team at Twitter.
Welcome to the flock, @benarroch_joe! From one bird to the next.
Let’s get to work @Twitter! #timetofly
