
Apple is rumoured to launch a new iPhone 14 colour later this week. The company has not announced any details officially but several reports suggest the launch of a new Yellow colour option as part of the spring season refresh cycle. Soon after, Apple is also rumoured to launch new Mac machines. Recently, it was reported that Apple might launch as many as three new Mac models between late spring and summer of 2023. The lineup was said to include a 13-inch and a 15-inch MacBook Air and the Mac Pro.
Apple was said to be launching the 15-inch MacBook Air with the new M2 chip. There were speculations around the 13-inch model launching with the upcoming M3 chip. Now, a new report has stated that Apple is working on the launch of the new M3 chip, which will be powering both new Air models of the MacBook.
New MacBook Air Models to Get New Apple Silicon
Apple might announce the M3 chip later this year and launch a bunch of devices with the new silicon, including the new MacBook Air. A new 9to5Mac report, citing sources, claims that both the rumoured 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models will feature the new M3 chip. The report contradicted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s previous claims of Apple launching the 15-inch model with the M2 and M2 Pro chips. Instead, Apple is said to be launching the 13-inch and 15-inch Air models with the upcoming M3 silicon. The 13-inch model is codenamed J513, whereas the 15-inch model is codenamed J515.

The new Air laptops are unlikely to get any design changes as Apple recently updated the design of its popular laptop with a flatter chassis and a notch at the top of the display that resembles the one found in the more expensive 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
The report stated that the M3 chip will continue to have an eight-core CPU like the M2 chip. Alongside the Air, Apple is also working on a 13-inch Pro model of its laptop lineup which will also feature the upcoming M3 chip. The entry-level MacBook Pro is codenamed J504. “Last year, Apple even considered dropping the “Pro” branding from this model, but the company seems to have given up on that idea,” the report added.
In addition to this, the upcoming iMac is also said to get a refresh after two years. Later this year, Apple is said to be launching the new all-in-one desktop with its M3 chip.
Apple might announce the new M3 chip at WWDC 2023 later this year in June. There is no official word on the same but going by last year’s record, it could be possible that the new M-series is announced at the Apple developer event. Soon after, we might see the rumoured Air and Pro MacBooks being announced later this year. Apple is also rumoured to launch the Mac Pro but the top-end machine with get the M2 Ultra chip. The 2023 Mac Pro will be the first in its entire lineup to get an M-series chip. The 2019 Mac Pro, which is currently the latest one, features an Intel chip inside.
