Apple launched the 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC 2023. The new MacBook Air is Apple’s biggest laptop under its affordable line with the new M-series chip. Apple claimed that the 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip is the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop with a thickness of 11.5mm. The new 15-inch Air M2 will go on sale in India from June 13. Ahead of the sale, new details about the successor of the 15-inch MacBook Air have surfaced online. According to a new report, Apple is already working on the 15-inch MacBook Air M3.

The new M3-powered 15-inch MacBook Air is not launching anytime soon. According to Gurman (via), the newly updated line of MacBook Air with the improved M3 SoC will launch in 2024. Apple is expected to launch the updated lineup next year with 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch screen options. The new M3 SoC is also likely to be built on TSMC’s 3nm process, which theoretically should offer significant performance and power efficiency improvements. Gurman stated that the M3 chip should have similar CPU and GPU core counts as the M2 chip. This means that the baseline M3 series chip will have an 8-core CPU and up to 10 GPU cores.

Gurman also added that the new iMac and 13-inch MacBook Pro models with the M3 chip are also in development. The iMac M3 will retain the design of the original M1 iMac, which was launched in 2021. Gurman expects the M3 iMac to launch early next year. There is no word on whether the MacBook Pro M3 with a 13-inch display will get a design refresh.

The Air seems like a solid option if you want to buy a new 15-inch MacBook. Launched at a starting price of Rs 1,34,900, the new M2 15-inch MacBook Air comes in midnight, starlight, silver, and space grey colour options. It packs almost the same set of hardware specs and features found in the 13-inch variant. Let’s look at the 15-inch MacBook Air M2’s specifications and features.

Apple MacBook Air 15-inch M2 Specifications

The M2 chip that powers the 15-inch Air is claimed to be 12 times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air. It is also claimed to offer up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge, which is said to be 50 per cent more than a PC.

Users can configure and buy the 15-inch MacBook Air with up to 24GB of RAM and 2TB storage.
