Padavettu Storyline

This is a coming of age drama which shows us the constant struggle of the ordinary man – the oppressed section of society who is in a constant battle to reclaim their unique identity and stake their claim in a world meant for all. The story follows a traumatised man who is stuck in life. He finds peace in lethargy and gets fooled by a party which uses him and his family name. This enrages the man while frequent jibes by villagers regarding his inaction infuriates him. The president of the party that used the man to gain an advantage in the next election wants to cash in on more economic opportunities by controlling everything that happens in the village. The lead however transforms into the saviour of the oppressed so everyone’s perspective about the party president changes.

Padavettu Reviews

  • The New Indian Express in a review dated 23rd October 2022 calls the movie ambitious, but also highlights some flaws. It recognizes that Padavettu is a part character study and part socio-political drama. • The Times of India in a review dated 21st October 2022 calls the movie an engaging story of revolution and praises Nivin Pauly’s acting.
  • Pinkvilla, in a review dated 23rd October 2022 also praises Nivin Pauly’s acting as well as the rest of the movie in terms of storyline, etc.
