Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Details Apparently Leaked: Overhauled Movement System, Venom Symbiote, and More

"Leaks" have begun to surface about the webslinger's next big adventure.

As perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated sequels in recent memory, there was bound to be a lot of chatter around Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 post its announcement. Like clockwork, the gaming community has been buzzing about the upcoming game, and as is the case with major upcoming releases, there are leaks floating about in the ether, and this latest one seems to confirm a bunch of theories and reveal a bunch of information ahead of even a proper trailer for the game.

The leaks come as a result of a Reddit post by supposedly a developer on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 who worked on the traversal. Thus, most of the information is to be taken with a grain of salt as it could simply be wishful thinking as opposed to actual insider information from the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 dev team.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 details revealed in alleged leak

The leaks seem to reveal a bunch of information related to the playable characters in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, two of whom will obviously be Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Players will be given the choice between the two characters for missions – and the non-player character will then be controlled by AI, and like the original, other characters will become playable during specific scripted sequences.

The other big “reveal” through the “leak” is that the Venom symbiote is an Oscorp product, as opposed to the alien lifeform that it is in the original comics and even movies. More villains will appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, according to these leaks, such as Mysterio and Lizard – in addition to Kraven the Hunter, whose voice was apparently featured in the brief teaser trailer.

On the gameplay side of things, the movement system has apparently been completely overhauled with new swinging and crawling animations and abilities for both the characters. While the game is set for release in 2023 on the PS5, it is unclear how far it might be in development currently to result in such specific leaks, thus it is not certain that these “leaks” actually stem from the dev team. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be releasing before Insomniac Games’ other big Marvel project – Wolverine, which means the next few years are going to be an incredibly challenge for the studio.
