MediaTek has refreshed its flagship mobile smartphone processor lineup with the new Dimensity 9000+ SoC. The new MediaTek SoC is the new flagship processor, which will be found in several premium smartphones later this year. As the name suggests, the Dimensity 9000+ SoC is an improved version of the 9000 SoC.
The chipset comes with performance boosts while focusing on improving its power efficiency. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ is integrated into ARM’s v9 CPU architecture. It is based on a 4nm fabrication process. Let’s take a look at the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC specifications, features and other details announced.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC is the New Flagship SoC
MediaTek has unveiled the new Dimensity 9000+ SoC. The chipset will replace the Dimensity 9000 as the company’s flagship chipset. Based on a 4nm process, the SoC has one Cortex-X2 core clocked at 3.2GHz. There are three high-performance Cortex-A710 cores and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. MediaTek has integrated ARM’s Mali-G710 GPU for graphics.
The chipset comes with an improved Imagiq 790 Image Signal Processor (ISP) with support for 18-bit HDR video recording. Users can record the 18-bit HDR video from three cameras at the same time. The chipset also supports a 320MP camera sensor along with 4K HDR recording. It can also record videos in 8K at 24fps.
The Dimensity 9000+ SoC supports a 144Hz WQHD+ display or one which has a 180Hz refresh rate panel with Full HD+ resolution. The 5G chipset has an upgraded network modem and supports Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6E, etc.
Smartphones with the new MediaTek chipset will launch during the third quarter of 2022. Currently, there is no official word on the list of smartphones that will feature a Dimensity 9000+ SoC.
The chipset has been launched at around the same time when Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC will debut in a few smartphones starting next month. The likes of Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola and iQOO are expected to launch their flagship smartphones with a Snapdragon chipset in July and August 2022.
