Xiaomi is planning to launch its budget flagship Mi 8 Lite smartphone in Taiwan. The smartphone is already available in the Chinese market. It seems like the brand is finally making its flagship device available globally. If you’re not aware, there are five devices which fall under the latest Mi 8 lineup, with Mi 8 Lite sitting at the lowest. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite offers flagship-grade features at an affordable price tag. Before Mi 8 Lite, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE was the most affordable smartphone in this lineup but now the lite version takes the pricing to another level.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite to go official in Taiwan on November
According to several reports, the Chinese manufacturing giant will launch their budget Mi 8 Lite device in Taiwan during 11.11 sale period. The 11.11 sale period goes by the name of Single’s Day which is somewhat similar to the Black Friday. Launching this smartphone during this shopping festival would be a great move for the brand. Apart from that, the brand will launch this device in three different colors – Dream Blue, Twilight Gold, and Deep Space Gray.
To recall, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite was launched in China on September 19, 2018, along with its Pro variant. The smartphone comes with a 6.26-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. Yes! It has a notch on the front. The brand went with the IPS LCD panel instead of AMOLED unlike other smartphones under this series. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 4GB/6GB RAM combined with 64GB/128GB internal memory. Speaking of optics, there is a dual camera setup at the back with 12MP + 5MP sensors. In front, there is a 24-MP selfie shooter. Both the front as well back cameras are equipped with AI capabilities. Sadly, there is no 3.5-mm headphone jack meaning you can’t consume media while charging. All of this runs on a 3350mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite going global, Indian launch next?
If this report is to be believed, then we can say the brand is finally launching their Mi 8 lineup in the global market. We were already expecting Mi 8 SE to hit the Indian shores a couple of months ago. It seems like the Mi 8 Lite might actually arrive in the Indian market. It is worth noting that Xiaomi hasn’t really launched any flagship device in India for a long time. The brand skipped the Mi 6 and might also do the same with Mi 8. Since the Mi 8 Lite falls on the budget segment, there is high chance that this device will make its way into the country.
Adding to the story, Xiaomi’s Global spokesperson Donovan Sung previously confirmed that Mi 8 Pro will go global soon. Last month, Xiaomi’s official twitter handle posted a tweet which reads “Where should be the first stop?”. It clearly indicates the intention of the brand to launch the Mi 8 Lite in the global market.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite comes in three storage variants – 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB. The base variant is priced at CNY 1,399 (Rs. 14,800 approx.) while the other two variants will be yours at a cost of CNY 1,699 (Rs. 18,000 approx.) and CNY 1,999 (Rs. 21,200 approx.) respectively.
