Earlier this week, Xiaomi officially confirmed that it will be launching the Mi 8 Youth Edition in China at an event in Chengdu on September 19. Ahead of the smartphone’s launch in China, a report from China has revealed that it will be available in a Twilight Gold color option with a gradient design.

Mi 8 Youth Edition: New Gradient Colors Confirmed

The Mi 8 Youth Edition is expected to be available in a wide range of colors, including a few with a gradient finish. An image showing the blue-violet gradient color option had been leaked online recently, while the latest leak out of China has revealed a Twilight Gold gradient color. In addition to the previously leaked “Aurora Gradient” and the Twilight Gold gradient option, the Mi 8 Youth Edition will also be available in a third color option with gradient finish.

Mi 8 Youth Edition: Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition features a 6.26-inch sized Full Screen display featuring Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, rumors suggest the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 710 mid-range octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 616 GPU. The same chipset also powers the Mi 8 SE, which was unveiled in China earlier this year. In the memory department, the Mi 8 Youth Edition will be offered in three different configurations in the Chinese market – 4GB RAM + 32GB onboard storage, 6GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB onboard storage. Unlike the Mi 8, the Mi 8 Youth Edition does feature a microSD card slot, which means users can choose to expand the storage further by up to 256GB.

In the camera department, Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition is expected to feature a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup, similar to the Mi 8 SE. Just like the other Mi 8 series smartphones, the Mi 8 Youth Edition will no doubt offer a number of AI-backed features such as scene recognition and a portrait mode. In terms of video, the smartphone is expected to be capable of capturing up to 4K Ultra HD resolution videos. Since it is a smartphone that will be targeted at the youth, it will come equipped with an impressive 24MP resolution snapper on the front.

Just like the rear cameras, the front camera will come with an AI-powered portrait and beautify features. Connectivity features might include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, an IR blaster and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone will be fueled by a 3250mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. In terms of size, the smartphone’s TENAA listing had revealed that it measures 156.4 x 75.8 x 7.5mm and weighs 169 grams.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition: Expected Price

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition is rumored to start at 1,999 yuan in China, which translates to approximately Rs.21,000 based on the current exchange rate. Along with the Mi 8 Youth Edition, Xiaomi is also expected to launch the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition. It is expected to be available in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. While detailed specifications are not available currently, it is expected to be priced significantly higher than the Mi 8 Youth Edition. While Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi 8 in India very soon, there is no word yet on whether the Mi 8 Youth Edition will be launched in India.
