Earlier this week, Xiaomi launched the Mi 9 flagship Android smartphone at an event in China. Along with the Mi 9, the Chinese manufacturer also introduced the Mi 9 Transparent Edition and Mi 9 SE smartphones. While the Mi 9 Transparent Edition and Mi 9 SE are unlikely to be launched in markets outside China, the standard Mi 9 will be making its way to Europe soon and is set to be formally launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 24. Thanks to a new tip that we have received, we can now reveal the smartphone’s starting pricing in Europe.
Xiaomi Mi 9 to Start at EUR 469 in Europe
The latest Xiaomi flagship smartphone will be available in Europe at EUR 469 (INR 37,800 approx.) for the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Needless to say, the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant will likely be priced closer to the EUR 600 mark. For more details regarding the smartphone’s pricing and availability in Europe, we will need to wait until Xiaomi’s Mobile World Congress press conference in Barcelona on Sunday.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 boasts a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch, fifth-generation optical In-display fingerprint scanner, Full HD+ resolution, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Thanks to the waterdrop notch and 3.6mm chin, the smartphone has an impressive 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. As you would expect from a 2019 flagship Android smartphone, the Mi 9 runs on Qualcomm’s 7nm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor with an Adreno 640 GPU. The smartphone also has an impressive triple-camera setup on the back with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary snapper, 12MP secondary telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra wide-angle lens. On the front is a 20MP selfie camera with various AI-assisted beauty functions. Some of its other key highlights include a 3300mAh battery with 20W wireless fast charging support, dual-frequency GPS with an independent L5 antenna, IR blaster, HPUE, and 4×4 MIMO. The smartphone runs on Xiaomi’s MIUI 10.2 version, based on Android 9 Pie.
