The Mi MIX 3 smartphone, which is yet to be launched, will come with a dedicated AI Assistant button and will be unveiled at the Forbidden City Palace Complex in Beijing, if a couple of fresh leaks are to be believed.
A launch poster was shared on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, which clearly mentions the unveiling date as October 25 and the venue for the launch event of the Mi MIX 3 as the Forbidden City, Beijing. The launch time has also been revealed in the same poster, and it will be 2 PM China Standard Time (11:30 am on October 25 in India). Keep reading to find out more information about the upcoming flagship smartphone from Xiaomi.
Mi MIX 3 To Feature Dedicated AI Assistant Button
According to a report published by ITHome, the hardware button seen on the left side of the Mi MIX 3 in photos is the device’s dedicated AI Assistant button, which, when pressed, will start the Xiao AI. Xiao AI is an AI-powered digital voice assistant, exclusively for Xiaomi phones in China, and it comes preloaded on the Mi MIX 2S. However, on the Mi MIX 2S, there was no hardware button dedicated to summon the AI-based voice assistant.
The Xiao AI is not largely different from Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri. In fact, it will have to be replaced by Google Assistant in devices that are sold in international markets, since the Xiao AI only works in the Chinese language. The Mi MIX 3 could become the first Xiaomi device with a dedicated Google Assistant button.
Google Assistant can understand your natural voice and engage in two-way conversations to help you with not just web-based information but also with operating smart devices that are connected, such as a smart TV or a smart bulb.
What We Know About the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 So Far
Several leaks and official teasers have given us a good picture of how the Mi MIX 3 will look like. The handset is confirmed to be the world’s first 10GB RAM smartphone. It will also be the first flagship smartphone to sport a Qualcomm 5G modem. Xiaomi has officially teased the ultra slow-motion (960fps) HD video recording ability of the Mi MIX 3.
The slider body design of the MIX 3 was released as a small but striking teaser video. The design will be nearly bezel-free and there will be no notch, just like the OPPO Find X and the Vivo NEX. While the Vivo NEX employs a pop-up front camera, the OPPO Find X has a slider attached within the body, so that the slider moves up when the front or rear camera is required.
Xiaomi has given the Mi MIX 3 a new approach by making the display movable so that you can slide it down manually (no motors involved) when you need to use the 24MP front dual-camera. In fact, Xiaomi Global spokesperson Donovan Sung has given it a unique design a nostalgia spin. Remember good-old slider phones? In a recent tweet, he said, “My very first smartphone was a sliding phone. Brings back lots of good memories.”
Xiaomi has been promoting the Mi MIX 3 as an amalgamation of art and technology. While the slide-down-for-camera design of the new flagship device is certainly inspiring, we will have to take a look at the back of the phone to conclude whether or not it really is artistic in its design. Until now, Xiaomi has protected (from leaks) the rear side of the Mi MIX 3 quite well, but we shall be quick to report if there is any more information about the device before its launch on Thursday.
