The name of the new series is enough to figure out that Micromax is riding on the nationalist wave. The launch invite itself made the brand’s intentions clear which is to take on Chinese smartphones. But has Micromax outdone Redmi, POCO, and Realme in their own game with the new In series smartphones? Will Micromax be able to dethrone A (Redmi), and C (POCO and Realme) series devices with a B? Micromax In 1b is priced at Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. While the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, at Rs. 7,999, costs just 1,000 more bucks. POCO C3 starts at Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the POCO C3 cost Rs. 8,999. Realme C12 is the costliest of the trio, and is priced at Rs. 8,999 for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant.

Similar to most other devices in this segment, all the aforementioned devices come with a bezel-less display with a water-drop notch. These devices have polycarbonate backs but with different finishes altogether. Micromax In 1b features a metallic matte finish and retails in Blue, Purple, and Green color variants. POCO’s signature dual-tone design is present on the POCO C3 as well, and it is sold in Matte Black, Arctic Blue, and Lime Green color variants in the Indian market. Realme C12, on the other hand, features a geometric gradient design and is available in Power Silver and Power Blue color variants.

The display panel on all three devices is identical in size, aspect ratio, and resolution. You will find a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 1600×720 pixels resolution on all three devices. The display on the POCO C3 comes with Panda glass screen protection, while the Realme C12 display has Corning Gorilla glass protection. Though the Gorilla glass version on Realme C12 is unspecified.

You will find entry-level octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 SoC on all three devices. The MediaTek Helio G35 comes coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Micromax In 1b and POCO C3 come with up to 64GB onboard storage, while the Realme C12 retails only in 32GB storage configuration. Though, the storage on all three devices can be expanded with the help of a dedicated micro-SD card.

POCO C3 packs a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, while the Realme C12 has a 2MP B&W sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
POCO C3 and Realme C12 pack an additional 2MP macro sensor compared to the Micromax In 1a which can let you go as close as 4cm to the subject. Micromax In 1b offers a superior 8MP selfie shooter compared to the 5MP sensor on the Realme C12 and POCO C3.

Micromax In 1b and POCO C3 pack 5,000 mAh battery units under-the-hood, while the Realme C12 comes with a mammoth 6,000mAh battery. All these devices come with 10W (5V/2A) charger in-box and do not support any type of fast charging. Though, you shouldn’t really expect fast charging at this price point.
Realme C12 and the POCO C3 feature a dated micro-USB charging port. While Micromax 1b has a USB Type-C charging port which is a first in the segment.

In 1b is the only device amongst the trio to pack a fingerprint scanner, which gives it an advantage against the competition. It also offers a Type-C charging port, and a better 8MP selfie shooter compared to the other two devices.
