Xiaomi officially released its Android 13 based custom skin, MIUI 14 on February 26 along with the Xiaomi 13 series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 globally. The India launch happened the next day and the eligible devices and timeline list for Xiaomi and Redmi devices were revealed however POCO devices were missing from the list.

POCO has now released the official MIUI 14 timeline on which device will release the Android 13 update and when. POCO has already rolled out the Android 12 based MIUI 14 update for the F4 5G users in India. Other devices in India running on Android 13 based MIUI 14 are the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Rest all Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices are running the old Android 12 based MIUI version. Strangely, POCO X5 Pro has also received an MIUI 14 update but that’s based on Android 12.

MIUI 14: Features

Xiaomi has once again redesigned the home screen which now features tabular icons, big folders, and widgets. This allows for a cleaner and easier home screen. The company is also introducing a card-style design that presents information more efficiently.

Xiaomi has also focused on efficiency and making the OS lighter and in order to achieve that the company has optimized system resources. As a result, the system resources take up less storage. Xiaomi is introducing a new feature that auto-compresses rarely-used apps which end up saving some storage for users. Also, the notifications on MIUI 14 are not permanent, users can now close the notifications if they don’t need them.

Xiaomi is introducing seamless connectivity between smartphones and tablets. Users can now sync the app between smartphone and tablet with a click on the taskbar. There is also a drag-and-drop feature that makes it easier for users to transfer files between devices. In order to focus more on privacy, Xiaomi has decided to process sensitive items on devices. This addresses the privacy concern since processing is done locally on the device.
