As mentioned earlier, the Z9s Pro closely resembles the flagship iQOO 12. Its back panel, with a wavy pattern, brings to mind marble tiles, and I must say, it’s quite striking. The phone has a premium feel, thanks to its sleek and slim design with elegant curves.
On the other hand, Motorola has taken a different approach with the Edge 50 Fusion, offering a colourful yet understated design. Instead of glass or plastic, Motorola uses vegan leather, a material seen in several of their other models. It adds a premium touch and delivers a suede-like finish.

The Z9s Pro boasts a stunning, premium display. Using it was a delight—we spent hours watching high-quality YouTube videos and bingeing Modern Family on Netflix. Interestingly, the Z9s Pro claims a maximum brightness of 4500 nits, which is astounding for a phone in this range. However, during testing, it reached 1831 nits, which still felt impressively bright, often requiring us to lower the brightness.
On the other hand, the Edge 50 Fusion offers a similar viewing experience, thanks to its pOLED panel. The blacks were deep, and the overall sharpness was excellent. The Edge 50 Fusion does have a few advantages, such as its 144Hz refresh rate, which makes everything feel smoother. It also supports a peak brightness of 1600 nits—not as high as the Z9s Pro but still bright enough for outdoor use.

The Z9s Pro also excels in portrait shots. Its edge detection, background blur, and skin tone rendering are top-tier. However, the camera struggles a bit in low light, which is common in mid-range phones. Still, the low-light images are good enough for Instagram stories, so most users won’t have any issues.
As for the Edge 50 Fusion, it’s primary camera also shines in daylight, capturing near-realistic colours with excellent dynamic range and detail. Even selfies have accurate skin tones. What stands out is the camera’s ability to manage direct sunlight, balancing exposure without overexposing the sky or washing out the foreground.

However, the ultra-wide lens is less consistent. While it sometimes delivers shots on par with the primary camera, artefacts and slight colour temperature shifts can occur. Low-light performance is decent but requires patience, as the slower shutter speed can result in blurry images if there’s any hand movement in dimly lit conditions.

In terms of battery life, the Z9s Pro features a larger 5,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging, a noticeable upgrade over the Edge 50 Fusion’s 5,000mAh battery and 68W fast charging. Both devices can last up to two days on a single charge with moderate use. To get a clearer picture of the actual difference, we ran the PCMark battery test on both devices. Here’s how they compared.
When it comes to charging speed, the Z9s Pro also takes the lead, charging from 0 to 100% in just 48 minutes, while the Edge 50 Fusion took around 53 minutes. While the difference isn’t huge, considering the Z9s Pro has a 500mAh larger battery, its charging speed is quite impressive.
