This smartphone competes directly with the Moto G05, which was also recently launched in India at a similar price. Both phones have a similar price and come in single RAM+Storage configuration. However, the itel A80 provides greater value by offering more internal storage. Additionally, itel includes a free screen replacement for any damage occurring within 100 days of purchase.
On the other hand, the Moto G05’s online availability gives it an edge, making it more convenient for customers to purchase.

- The itel A80 has both glossy and matte finishes on the rear with glacier patterns for the Glacier White shade. The Wave Blue and Sandstone Black colours sport a natural meteor texture and a delicate frosted texture. The brand claims it has a glass feel, craftsmanship with 8.54 mm thickness, and gets IP54 dust and water resistance. itel has yet to disclose the weight of the device.

However, the slightly better IP rating offered with the itel A80 makes it a better choice over the Moto G05. Both smartphones have a plastic frame with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button.

- The itel A80 sports a 6.7-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. In contrast, the Moto G05 boasts a brighter LCD panel with water-touch support and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It also includes a dual stereo speaker setup, enhancing the media viewing experience.

- The itel A80 packs the octa-core UniSoC T603 SoC built on a 12nm process. The smartphone supports virtual RAM and storage expansion via a microSD card slot. itel has yet to disclose the RAM and storage type of the device.
- The Moto G05 features the MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme SoC fabricated on a similar 12nm process. The chipset is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 internal storage with similar expansion capabilities.
The Moto G05’s MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme SoC outperforms the itel A80’s UniSoC T603. It features two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.70GHz, and a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU.
Motorola enhances performance further with faster RAM and a superior storage type. In comparison, the UniSoC T603 includes only four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.80GHz, another four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.20GHz, and a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU.
That said, we don’t know how both phones perform in the real world.
itel A80 vs Moto G05: Software
- The A80 boots itel OS 14 based on Android 14 Go Edition out of the box. It is rated to offer 36 months of lag-free performance. The device has a landscape display mode, an ultra-power-saving mode, and Smart Link+. There’s no word on its software update cycle.
- The Moto G05 comes with My UX based on Android 15 out of the box. It is confirmed to receive two years of security patch updates. The smartphone also supports ultra-power-saving mode and integrates many privacy features.
While both phones offer a clean software experience, we prefer the Moto G05 because it is the only device in its segment to run Android 15 straight out of the box. Moreover, Motorola has confirmed a clear software update cycle for the Moto G05, setting it apart from its competitors.

- The itel A80 features a 50MP Super HDR rear camera equipped with a unique ring light. Itel offers nine creative filters to enhance your photos. At the front, you’ll find an 8MP selfie camera with an LED flash.
- The Moto G05 features a 50MP rear camera with quad-pixel technology, an f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and an LED flash. It boasts an 8MP front camera with an f/2.05 aperture.
Although both have identical front and rear sensors, we would choose the itel A80 as it includes AI features, such as automatic scene detection, and integrates an LED flash for the selfie shooter.

- The itel A80 features a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging via a USB Type-C port. The battery is designed to last up to four years and provides regular users with up to three days of battery life.
- The Moto G05 features a larger 5,200mAh battery that supports 18W wired fast charging, promising up to two days of battery life. However, Motorola includes a slower 10W charger in the box.
The Moto G05 features a slightly larger battery and supports faster wired charging technology. Buyers should note that the 18W adapter must be purchased separately.
