The Lava Agni 3 5G is the more value-for-money offering between the two. And considering most smartphone users in India have spare chargers, the flexibility to buy the base variant without chargers sweetens the whole deal. That said, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ starts with an 8GB + 256GB configuration, so you get more storage for the entry-level model. All variants come with chargers in the box.
Lava Agni 3 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: Design
The Lava Agni 3 5G comes in two colours—Geather Glass and Pristine Glass—with a silky satiny finish on the back. The two standout design features of the Agni 3 5G are the segment-first Action Key, which can be customised to perform various actions, and the secondary display next to the triple camera module on the back. The smartphone is IP64-rated for protection against dust and water splashes. It’s 8.8mm thick and weighs 212 grams.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G comes in three colours – Fusion White, Fusion Black, and Fusion Purple. While the first two variants have a satiny two-tone finish, the Fusion Purple version has a premium vegan leather back with colour-blocked panels. The curved display with a centred punch hole notch adds to the premium design. The smartphone also features flagship-grade durability with an IP68 rating and a Gorilla Glass Victus layer on display. The handset is just 8.9mm thick and weighs 204.5 grams.
While the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G offers flagship-grade IP68 protection with a Gorilla Glass Victus display layer and is also lighter, the Agni 3 5G has a more premium look. The Agni InstaScreen on the back and the Action Key add a lot of functionality to the overall design and hence, is a clear choice when it comes to design.
Lava Agni 3 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: Display
The Lava Agni 3 5G sports a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with 2,652 x 1,200 pixels screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Other features include 10-bit colour depth, HDR, Widevine L1 support, and 1200 nits peak brightness. The Agni 3 5G also has a 1.74-inch secondary AMOLED display on the back with a 480 x 336 pixels resolution, 8-bit colours, and more. It allows users to take selfies using the rear camera, receive calls, reply to notifications, control music, and more.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G features a 6.67-inch 3D curved AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels and a 30Hz-120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate. The display supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 1800nits peak brightness, 1,920Hz PWM dimming, and more.
While the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G offers a similarly-specced 3D curved AMOLED display with higher brightness, PWM dimming, and more, the Lava Agni 3 5G wins due to the secondary display. We have seen something similar on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra in the past, but it was more of a gimmick. The Lava Agni 3 5G pushes the boundary and offers functionality through the secondary display, which tips the scales in its favour in this department.
Both phones offer Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers, so their audio output is comparable.
The segment-first MediaTek Dimensity 7300X SoC powers the Lava Agni 3 5G with 4nm fabrication and over 7,00,000 AnTuTu benchmark score, according to the brand. The chipset is accompanied by 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 8GB RAM expansion, and UFS 3.1 storage up to 256GB. The performance is further backed by effective thermal management through VC Cooling technology featuring a 9-layer copper-plated heat dissipation module, 5000mm² liquid-cooled VC chamber, and 3D high-performance graphene film.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G also features a 4nm chipset— the MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra—with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone offers 8GB RAM expansion technology for seamless multitasking. However, it has a smaller 4000mm² vapour cooling chamber. The AnTuTu score of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is around 7,00,000 but not over.
As you can see, the Lava Agni 3 5G and Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G are almost similar in terms of performance. However, if the slight edge in performance matters to you, the Lava Agni 3 5G is ahead, thanks to a newer processor and a bigger VC cooling chamber. We haven’t tested the performance and the benchmarks, though.
Lava Agni 3 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: Software
The Lava Agni 3 5G runs Android 14 and is slated to receive three Android version upgrades and security updates for four years. The company takes pride in bloatware and ad-free interface.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box. The handset is slated to receive three major Android updates and four years of security patch updates.
The Lava Agni 3 5G will receive one additional software update, compared to the Redmi offering. Moreover, its clean interface, free of bloatware and pesky ads, makes it the clear winner in this department.
Lava Agni 3 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: Camera
The Lava Agni 3 5G features a triple camera system on the back, comprising a 50MP primary lens, 8MP telephoto lens, and 8MP ultrawide lens. There is a 16MP front camera for selfies.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G flaunts a triple camera setup on the rear panel with a 200MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide-angle lens, and 2MP macro lens. On the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G with the 200MP main camera emerges as the winner in this department. However, if you take a lot of portrait and zoom shots, the 8MP telephoto lens on the Lava Agni 3 5G is more valuable than the 2MP macro lens. Overall, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is a better choice for general day-to-day photography.
Lava Agni 3 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: Battery and Charging
The Lava Agni 3 5G has a 5,000mAh battery. The handset supports 66W fast wired charging.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G also features a 5,000mAh battery, but it offers 120W HyperCharge fast charging technology.
Although the battery capacity is the same, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G wins in this department, thanks to its faster charging technology.
Lava Agni 3 5G vs Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: Verdict
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G stands out for its 200MP primary camera and faster charging technology, but that’s about it. The Lava Agni 3 5G is a more well-rounded package with a functional design, Action Key, secondary AMOLED display, powerful performance, great set of cameras, and clean interface. Moreover, the Lava Agni 3 5G is much cheaper than the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G, making it more value-for-money between the two.
