Mega Charging Test: Phones from Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000 Compared

In a world where every minute counts, waiting around for your phone to charge just doesn’t cut it anymore. Whether you’re spending Rs 15,000 or Rs 50,000, fast charging is no longer a luxury—it’s an expectation. So, we at MySmartPrice decided to put a range of smartphones through a mega charging test to see which ones actually deliver. Here’s what we found.

Laws of Charging

Tired of waiting around while your phone crawls its way to 100%? You’re not alone. Charging speed can make or break your daily routine—and it all boils down to two things: battery size and how powerful your charging brick is.

We’re not here to throw around specifications without context. Instead, we grabbed a bunch of smartphones across price segments from Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000—and put them through a no-nonsense charging test.

More on Smartphones…

We’ve put a range of smartphones through our mega charging test, and here’s a quick look at the battery capacities by price segment:

  • Under Rs 15,000: Vivo T4x – 6,500mAh
  • Under Rs 20,000: OPPO K13 – 7,000mAh
  • Under Rs 25,000: Vivo T4 – 7,300mAh (the biggest of the lot)
  • Under Rs 30,000: Nothing Phone (3a) Pro – 5,000mAh
  • Under Rs 35,000: Vivo V50 – 6,000mAh
  • Under Rs 40,000: Google Pixel 8a – 4,492mAh
  • Under Rs 45,000: OnePlus 13R – 6,000mAh
  • Under Rs 50,000: Google Pixel 9a – 5,100mAh

Device Overview

Before we jump into the gaming performance details, here’s a quick rundown of what each phone brings to the table:

  • Vivo T4x – A true budget performer under Rs 15,000, this one shines with dependable performance and a battery that easily powers through the day.
  • OPPO K13 – This one’s all about bold choices. It breaks away from OPPO’s typical design language and packs a giant 7,000mAh battery to keep you going for hours on end.
  • Vivo T4 – The battery champ of the bunch, and it doesn’t stop there—it brings solid performance to the mix too.
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Pro – More of a style icon than a spec monster, it’s made for those who care deeply about aesthetics when picking their next device.
  • Vivo V50 – A head-turner with looks that impress and cameras that deliver stunning shots.
  • Google Pixel 8a – No bloat, no fuss—just clean Android the way it’s meant to be. Google’s software experience remains unmatched.
  • OnePlus 13R – All the flagship feels without the flagship price. It delivers where it matters.
  • Google Pixel 9a – Sleek design, excellent cameras, and Google’s growing suite of AI tools—this one blends function with finesse.

Who Won?

To maintain fairness, we conducted the test in two rounds to avoid relying on extension boards, which can split wattage and skew charging times.

Check out the full table and find out which phone charged the fastest.

Charging Test Details
  • When it came to charging speeds, the OnePlus 13R raced ahead of the pack, hitting 100% in just 55 minutes and 34 seconds.
  • Hot on its heels was the Vivo V50, wrapping up the charge in 57 minutes and 13 seconds—not bad at all.
  • Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, OPPO K13, and Vivo T4 all posted similar full-charge times. That’s particularly commendable for the T4 and K13, considering they’re both powering massive 7,000mAh batteries or more. Clearly, size didn’t slow them down.
First Round of Charging Test Results
  • Then there’s the Pixel 8a, which took its sweet time—2 hours and 20 minutes to be exact. In that time, you could’ve watched a full-length movie. What makes it more baffling is that it only has a 4,492mAh battery—hardly large enough to justify that kind of delay.
  • Sadly, the Pixel 9a didn’t do much to improve the situation. Despite offering 23W fast charging, it still took 1 hour and 38 minutes to fill up, inching towards the two-hour mark.
Second Round of Charging Test Results

You will find all the charging comparison images above. We ran the test twice to ensure accuracy—avoiding extension boards, since they can reduce power output and affect the final results.
