When it comes to gaming, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo hit a peak of 60 fps in Call of Duty: Mobile, with occasional dips down to 55 fps. The overall performance wasn’t stellar; with ups, downs, and some frustrating moments that might annoy avid gamers.

On the flip side, the Vivo V40e also hit 60 fps in Call of Duty: Mobile but the minimum dropped to 57 fps. The numbers aren’t terrible, but the gaming experience felt just…okay. Plus, the phone got noticeably warm after a couple of rounds.

Taking all of this into account, if you need a phone primarily for everyday tasks, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo is a solid pick. In terms of software, both devices offer plenty of customisable features. However, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo stands out with its cleaner interface compared to the Vivo V40e. Plus, if you like to hang onto your phone for a while, Motorola’s promise of five years of software support is a major bonus.

Sometimes, though, the flare can add an artistic touch, so we’re willing to overlook it.

On the flip side, the Vivo V40e captures vibrant daylight shots but some grain is noticeable. The aggressive image enhancement can sometimes throw the colours off balance.

Its ultra-wide camera provides a wider field of view while thankfully avoiding distortion. As for low-light performance, the Vivo V40e offers sharper images, but it still falls short compared to what the Motorola Edge 50 Neo brings to the table.

In the PCMark Battery test, the Vivo V40e clocked an impressive 18 hours and 22 minutes of use.

Conversely, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo charges in just 45 minutes. While that’s quick, it does have a smaller battery to power. Unfortunately, we don’t have PCMark test results since it failed during our testing twice. That said, with light to moderate use, it can last nearly a full day.

So, if you’re after a phone that can keep going for more than a day, the Vivo V40e is the way to go.
