The Razr 40 Ultra appears more value for money, given its lower price tag. However, this is only on Amazon and is priced at Rs 66,999 via the Motorola e-store.

But if you are inclined towards the new launch, its festive discount of Rs 5,000 and a card discount of Rs 10,000 are lucrative too.

  • The Motorola Razr 50 features a big cover display on the outer side, which houses dual cameras and a flash. It is available in three colours – Koala Grey, Beach Sand and Spiritz Orange. Razr 50 is IPX8 rated for dust resistance and the outer glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It measures 171.3 x 74 x 7.3 mm while unfolded and 88.1 x 74 x 15.9 mm when folded.
  • The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is the first one from Motorola to feature a big cover display, and it is available in four colours – Viva Magenta, Infinite Black, Glacier Blue and Peach Fuzz. Razr 40 Ultra is IP52 rated and has Gorilla Glass Victus protection for the cover glass. When unfolded, the phone measures 170.8 x 74 x 7 mm and 88.4 x 74 x 15.1 mm when folded.

The Motorola Razr 50 follows a similar design as the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. But the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra still stands as the better out of the two with its superior IP52 rating for water and dust resistance.

The cover display measures 3.6 inches and it is a pOLED display with a resolution of 1056 x 1066 pixels and has a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra dominates the Motorola Razr 50 in numbers, it has a better display on the inside and the outside. It also has a higher 144Hz refresh rate.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and UFS 3.0 storage performs much better than Razr 50 with Mediatek Dimensity 7300X SoC and UFS 2.2 storage. The Razr 40 Ultra is the one to go for if you’re hungry for performance. The Razr 50 isn’t that bad, it should perform well in day-to-day tasks. However, we have yet to compare the benchmarks and real-world performance.

  • The Motorola Razr 50 comes out of the box with Hello UX based on Android 14. Motorola promises 3 years of Android update and 4 years of security patches for the phone. Razr 40 has Google Gemini-based AI features front and centre, and it is accessible through the cover screen itself.
  • The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra came with Hello UX based on Android 13, but it has since received the Android 14 update and is running Android 14 now. The Razr 40 Ultra will receive 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches.

Motorola’s Hello UX is a light Android skin, which resembles a close-to-stock Pixel-like experience. Both phones come with the same software, but as an older phone, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra already received one software update and will only receive Android updates until Android 16 while the Razr 50 will get the Android 17 update. The Razr 50 takes the cake here.

The Motorola Razr 50 is a good phone. But Motorola seems to have shot itself in the foot by selling Razr 40 Ultra for Rs 5,000 less. The Razr 40 Ultra has better screens and a much more powerful processor. It also fares slightly better in durability with its IP52 rating. Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is one of the best deals currently on a flip foldable for Rs 44,999.

The Razr 50, on the other hand, comes with a bigger battery and has better-integrated AI features. It also gets one more year of software updates. The Razr 50 costs Rs 5,000 more than the Razr 40 Ultra, and paying that for a better battery while sacrificing better displays and the chipset doesn’t seem ideal. We recommend getting the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra.
