The OPPO Find X8 has arrived in India as the latest flagship camera smartphone with a camera system that’s cream of the cream. On the other hand, we have the Realme GT 7 Pro, the first smartphone to launch in India with the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

While Realme’s version focuses on raw performance, the Find X8 is expected to do good in the camera department. So, which one is a better deal? We have compared them to find the answer.

The Realme GT 7 Pro has a run-of-the-mill design that doesn’t scream flagship. The smartphone is also much thicker and heavier than the OPPO Find X8. Users can purchase the Realme GT 7 Pro in Mars Orange and Galaxy Grey Colours.

Realme GT 7 Pro in Galaxy Grey colour

We received the Galaxy Grey variant and the subtle design makes it look like any other mid-range smartphone in the market, not a flagship device. If you want the Realme GT 7 Pro, we suggest opting for the Mars Orange variant to stand out. It has dual IP68 and IP69 ingress protection ratings for dust and water resistance.

The OPPO Find X8, on the other hand, has a more modern design featuring a blocky frame with flat edges, which we found uncomfortable if you have to hold the device for long. However, the smartphone’s lighter and thinner profile and excellent weight distribution give it a superb hand feel.

The smartphone is available in Space Black and Star Grey, which feature a luxurious matte finish and a modern circular camera island. The smartphone also features dual IP68 and IP69 ingress protection for durability.

Both smartphones offer dual ingress protection ratings and confidence-inducing heft in hand. However, if we had to choose one, we would opt for the modern fit and finish of the OPPO Find X8 over the rather boring design of the Realme GT 7 Pro.

The Realme GT 7 Pro has a bigger display than the OPPO Find X8. The brand has also opted for a quad-curved display on the GT 7 Pro, which not only lends a flagship aesthetic to the device but also offers superior quality. We loved binge-watching our favourite shows on the GT 7 Pro, thanks to the HDR10 and Widevine L1 certification, which enabled high-resolution streaming. The smartphone is touted to have 6,500nits of peak brightness, and the claim holds ground, as we could operate it in direct sunlight at just 40% brightness. Moreover, the screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 7i.

Unlike the Realme GT 7 Pro’s quad-curved display, the OPPO Find X8 has a flat panel, which we prefer because there are no accidental touches or reflective flare from the curves. The display offers the same resolution and refresh rate and supports Dolby Vision, Ultra HDR Image, etc. The display brightness is slightly lower than that of the Realme GT 7 Pro, but we didn’t experience any legibility issues outdoors. The OPPO Find X8 also comes with the same Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

OPPO Find X8 Display

We prefer the OPPO Find X8’s flat display over the Realme GT 7 Pro curved panel. However, those who prefer the curved aesthetics will love the Realme GT 7 Pro.

The OPPO Find X8 and Realme GT 7 Pro are powered by the latest and greatest mobile platform from MediaTek and Qualcomm, respectively.

In our testing, we took the smartphone for a spin during a day of photography testing, and despite using the camera for a prolonged duration, the device didn’t stutter or lag at all. Having said that, the back panel will heat up with prolonged intensive usage. Apart from the heating issue, the OPPO Find X8 handles everyday tasks like a champ, including flawless gaming in Call of Duty: Mobile with the highest settings.

OPPO Find X8 Antutu Score

Coming to the Realme GT 7 Pro, synthetic benchmarking shows that the smartphone’s Snapdragon 8 Elite scores higher than the Dimensity 9400 SoC in AnTuTu and Geekbench. These numbers translate into real-life performance as well.

The Realme GT 7 Pro storms through resource-intensive games like BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, and COD Warzone at the highest settings without any lag or frame drops, which is saying something. Moreover, everyday tasks like streaming videos and music, web and social media browsing, etc., are like child’s play for the Realme GT 7 Pro.

If you are looking for a smartphone that can perform seamlessly all day, even after hours of using the camera to record videos and shoot photos, the Find X8 is probably the only pick in the market. However, if it’s the raw power you seek for gaming and heavy multitasking usage, the Realme GT 7 Pro is the one to get.

OPPO Find X8 vs Realme GT 7 Pro: Software

Software ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 Realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15
OS Updates Five years of OS updates Three years of OS updates
Security Updates Six years of Security updates Four years of Security updates

The OPPO Find X8’s interface does have its share of bloatware but these are useful apps like Netflix, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, etc., and it saves you the hassle of downloading these apps from the Play Store.

OPPO Find X8 ColorOS 15

The best part about the OS is that there are no pesky notifications interrupting smartphone usage. Moreover, features like Fluid Cloud AI Clarity Enhancer, AI Reflection Remover, AI Unblur, and AI Eraser make the experience more intuitive and engaging.

As for the Realme GT 7 Pro, the smartphone boots Realme UI 6.0, a far cry from the Realme UI as we know it. The brand has improved everything from new customisation features to revamped animations. Moreover, you get AI features like AI Eraser and AI Sketch. However, the interface is loaded with bloatware and spammy notifications.

The lack of spammy bloatware and an additional year of software support make us default to the OPPO Find X8 in the software department.

OPPO Find X8 vs Realme GT 7 Pro: Cameras

OPPO Find X8 Realme GT 7 Pro
Primary Camera 50MP Sony LYT 700 with OIS, ƒ/1.8 aperture 50MP Sony IMX906 with OIS, ƒ/1.8

Front Camera 32MP Sony IMX615 with ƒ/2.4 aperture 16MP with ƒ/2.45 aperture

The OPPO Find X8 is a powerful smartphone with a 50MP triple camera setup on the rear. The smartphone captures stunning portraits with aesthetic bokeh and rich, saturated colours. Shots taken using the telephoto lens showcase lifelike accuracy in terms of colour reproduction and details.

The ultrawide-angle lens captured wider shots with no noise and edge distortion. We found the ultra-wide photos’ colours, details, and overall image quality exceptional. The OPPO Find X8 also captures great details in shadows and restricts noise to a great extent in low-light shots. The smartphone also takes highly detailed selfie shots, thanks to the 32MP snapper.

The main and wide-angle cameras on the Realme GT 7 Pro capture pictures with accurately vibrant and well-exposed details. However, the wide-angle lens does lose details due to the lower resolution sensor. The telephoto camera is as good as the primary lens and captures lifelike images with good HDR.

The Realme GT 7 Pro can click portrait shots using both primary and telephoto sensors, but the latter should be preferred for portraits. The smartphone also does well in low light except for a random instance (or two) of noise and blurriness due to the slow shutter speed. The Realme GT 7 Pro captures stunning selfies despite a lower-resolution selfie camera.

It’s evident that the OPPO Find X8, with its powerful telephoto sensor and selfie shooter, is the one to pick here. However, leaving aside a lacklustre ultrawide shooter, the Realme GT 7 Pro is also a decent camera smartphone.

OPPO Find X8 vs Realme GT 7 Pro: Battery and Charging

The Find X8 packs a solid 5,630mAh battery and comes with an 80W SuperVOOC charger in the box. In our testing, the smartphone went from zero battery to 100% in just under an hour.

During our review period, the smartphone lasted all day with photography, Netflix streaming, and music streaming, with 79% of the battery still left in the tank. In our PCMark Battery test, the handset lasted a whopping 17 hours, which is quite impressive.

iQOO 13 Battery

The Realme GT 7 Pro review unit we received featured a beefy 6,500mAh battery. Notably, the commercial unit sold in India has a 5,800mAh battery, which is still bigger than the OPPO Find X8. The phone lasted a whole day of gaming, photoshoots, social media browsing, etc., with little less than 50% battery life left. The Realme GT 7 Pro charged from dead to 100% in 36 minutes and lasted around 16 hours in our PCMark Battery test.

With the battery life almost identical, the Realme GT 7 Pro wins in the battery department because of the faster charging speed.

OPPO Find X8 vs Realme GT 7 Pro: Verdict

The OPPO Find X8 is the one to pick here if you are a mobile photography enthusiast. However, it’s not just a one-trick pony, as the Dimensity 9400 SoC can handle heavy usage without breaking a sweat. The longer software update policy, no spammy notifications, exceptional battery life, and a modern flagship design are just the icing on the cake.

The Realme GT 7 Pro is the one to pick if you are looking for raw power to brute force through sessions after sessions of intensive gaming and heavy multitasking. It performs decently as a camera smartphone as well. You get a faster-charging battery, solid build quality, a stunning display, and more. However, the bloatware with pesky notifications can be a tough pill to swallow, given its flagship status!
