Oxygen OS 15 Hands-On: 6 Incredible Features I Came Across

I'm currently testing OnePlus’ latest smartphone but can't reveal the model yet — stay tuned for the official launch. But I can share my experience with the latest OxygenOS15 based on Android 15. The company has incorporated some impressive, user-friendly features this year.

Having properly explored OxygenOS 15, I've identified 6 standout features worth highlighting. Let's jump into the article and take a closer look at what makes them so special.

Oxygen OS 15: Top 6 Features That Will Change the Way You Use Your OnePlus Phone

Circle to Search

This feature might not be exclusive to OnePlus phones but it's easily one of my favourites for everyday use. Whether I'm scrolling through Instagram or X, it is handy almost daily.

Circle to Search

It’s easy to use too; just press and hold the bottom part of the screen and circle anything to search. Plus, it’s a seamless and intuitive experience. Whoever came up with this idea truly deserves a raise.

Live Alerts

OnePlus' Live Alerts feature feels like a blend of iPhone's Dynamic Island and OPPO's Aqua Dynamics. The punch-hole cleverly expands when toggling between vibration and ringer modes, adding a touch of flair to simple actions. That said, its potential feels underutilised as only a few apps currently support this functionality.

Live Alerts

While it's a neat addition, it doesn't feel groundbreaking, especially since similar features have been available on devices from other brands. Seeing more apps integrate seamlessly without disrupting the user experience would be quite exciting, though.

Private Safe

The Private Safe feature is a welcome inclusion in the Settings app, offering a straightforward way to protect sensitive files. Setting it up is hassle-free— create a password and follow the steps provided. Once activated, it acts as a secure vault for your images, videos, audio, documents, and other files you'd like to keep private. Think of it as your personal, hidden locker.

What's more, the intuitive organisation ensures you can easily access your files whenever needed.

Share With iPhone

I had the chance to explore OPPO's ColorOS 15 UI, which included a similar feature that caught my attention. It's a smart solution akin to the iPhone's AirDrop, bridging the gap between Android and iOS for file sharing.

Share with iPhone

That said, iPhone users must download an app to receive files or images. This cross-platform capability is a game-changer, simplifying the process and saving time for users on both sides.

New Control Centre

The redesigned Control Centre takes clear inspiration from the iPhone, especially with its volume and brightness sliders, which are nearly identical to iOS 18.

Despite this resemblance, the update feels like a welcome change. It offers a streamlined and clutter-free design that prioritises simplicity. This minimalist approach aligns well with user preferences for clean and straightforward interfaces.

Flux Themes

Flux Themes is also available in OPPO's ColorOS 15. It offers exciting new customisation options. The ability to personalise lock screen and home screen wallpapers adds a fresh touch, while OnePlus users can also add widgets such as step count or weather updates, much like the iPhone's lock screen.

These features make it easy to tailor the phone to your preferences, offering a seamless, user-friendly experience. I also explored the dynamic option to add images and text that change based on user interaction—an interesting touch to make the device feel even more personal.

Bottomline

During my time with the upcoming OnePlus smartphone, these six features stood out. While they may not be brand-new out-of-the-box features, their inclusion in the latest software update is a welcome improvement. It's interesting to see how different brands are borrowing ideas from each other to refine their software, and each has put its unique spin on it.

These features have become part of my daily routine, but there's more to explore. Ensure to keep an eye on MySmartPrice for more OxygenOS updates coming your way.
