Motorola equips the device with a triple camera setup on the rear, which slightly protrudes. In our practical usages, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is comfortable for one-hand usages and offers great grip-boosting confidence for one-hand usages. The smartphone also comes with an IP68 rating.

In contrast, the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G, despite being slightly thicker and heavier, offers a great in-hand feel. The smartphone is offered in glass back and vegan leather editions. Realme equips the smartphone with IP65 dust and water resistance, protecting it from water splashes.

Despite using the smartphone for extended periods, it felt convenient, and the glass-back edition has an excellent grip. The Realme 13 Pro+ 5G sports a unique pattern on the rear, offering a more premium look than the Motorola Edge 50 Pro.

The overall winner in the segment will depend on personal preferences. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is an excellent choice for customers who prefer a device, which is light and gets an advanced IP rating. On the contrary, the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G sports a unique design that stands out in the segment.

The 120Hz refresh rate of the device also makes the scrolling smooth on the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G. Realme has equipped its latest smartphone with the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for enhanced protection.

In contrast, Motorola equips the Motorola Edge 50 Pro with older Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Edge 50 Pro’s PANTONE-validated display offers a crisp and vivid experience. In our testing, we managed to obtain 1986 nits, which is near the acclaimed 2000 nits by Motorola.

The 144Hz refresh rate on the Motorola smartphone offers a faster experience, and the brand also allows switching to a 120Hz refresh rate from 144Hz to save battery. In our practical tests, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro offers deep blacks and good viewing angles, making the display more enjoyable for media consumption.

Realme equips the smartphone with dual speakers, which offer decent clarity and loudness. However, in higher volumes, the audio quality is slightly reduced and it is recommended to set high volumes. Motorola equips its smartphone with a stereo speaker setup that is also loud and offers good clarity. However, it lacks depth while listening to music and offers a bit of flat output.

Despite the display offering HDR10+ certification, the device is yet to support the same on Netflix. We prefer the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G over the Motorola Edge 50 Pro in this area.

Front Camera 32MP front camera with f/2.45 aperture 50MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture

The Realme 13 Pro+ 5G is the first smartphone to debut with the 50MP Sony LYT 701 primary camera with OIS. Realme also equips the smartphones with multiple AI features to enhance the camera performance. In our tests, the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G captures crisp and nice photos in daylight conditions and offers excellent colour reproduction.

Realme increases the contrast on the images captured during daylight, which makes them look enhanced. The 3x periscope telephoto camera on the smartphone captures excellent portraits with great edge detection and vivid colours. The ultrawide camera also produces well-lit and natural colours.

Realme has managed the colour consistency with the ultrawide and 3x periscope telephoto shots. However, the images are not well detailed, owing to the lower 8MP ultrawide snapper. The 6x photos from the periscope telephoto camera also have some grains, and the 120x shots have some focus issues.

In low light conditions, the primary camera captures excellent shots with balanced colours, and Realme uses AI Ultra Clarity to reduce the noise of the images. The selfies captured by the 32MP Sony sensor produce natural skin tones, which don’t look artificial. However, the smartphone smoothens the images captured using the selfie camera in lowlight situations.

In contrast, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro has a larger ultrawide camera and selfie camera. Motorola also captures crisp-looking images with excellent control over the dynamic range with its 50MP primary camera. The company claimed that the PANTONE collaboration would produce natural, which was not true in our testing. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro has a slightly warmer colour tone when shooting objects with green and red.

The smartphone, despite packing a more capable processor, took some time to process the images. The 13MP ultrawide also takes detailed pictures during daylight with some minor distortion at the edges. The telephoto camera also captures excellent portrait images with great edge detection.

In low-light situations, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro captured images with minimal noise using the telephoto camera. The images captured using the selfie camera offer balanced colours and accurate skin tones. However, the smartphone will struggle to capture pictures against light.

Both Realme and Motorola equip the smartphones with support for video recording up to 4K 30 fps on the rear.

The Realme 13 Pro+ 5G will be a better pick as it offers better images in our testing with its newer sensors. The addition of AI features also helps the Realme smartphone capture well-detailed pictures.

Thankfully, Realme allows you to uninstall or disable the bloatware apps without the requirement of any third-party applications.

In contrast, the Hello UI on the Motorola Edge Pro also offers a similar snappy performance without any issues. Motorola also equips the smartphone with features like Moto Gestures to enhance the user experience.

The Hello UI ships without any bloatware apps, offering a clean experience. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro has an advantage over here. It also has a better upgrade policy, which ensures Android updates to Android 17. So, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro wins here.

The longer duration on the PCMark Battery Test result of the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G is due to the larger capacity battery. In practical conditions, the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G can last more than a day of usage, and we managed to secure an average screen time of 7 to 8 hours. The Realme 13 Pro+ 5G also managed to charge from 0 to 100% in 56 minutes.

The Motorola smartphone has an advantage over the Realme 13 Pro+ 5G with its support for faster charging tech. In our test, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro took 22 minutes for a full charge.

However, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro got slightly warmer at 43 degrees Celsius while using the 125W fast charger. Motorola also has an advantage with support for 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging tech. The faster wired and wireless charging tech on the Motorola Edge 50 Pro gives it an advantage despite packing a smaller battery.

So, if a bigger and long-lasting battery matters to you, along with the relief of getting an in-box charger, the Realme 13 Pro+ is an ideal choice. The Edge 50 Pro can be considered if you want wireless charging and faster charging support.

Realme 13 Pro+ 5G vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: Verdict

The Realme 13 Pro+ 5G offers more value for money as it offers a slightly better display (with a newer Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection). Realme also has an advantage when it comes to the cameras and AI features. The smartphone gets a larger battery, which can last over a day despite heavy usage.

On the contrary, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is focused towards comfort and has a lighter design with an IP68 rating, support for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Motorola also equips the smartphone with a faster processor and a better upgrade policy.

The final decision will depend on the buyer’s preferences from the above segments. The Realme 13 Pro+ 5G is apt for users who prefer to have all the latest features, better camera quality, and a unique design.
