The Realme 13 Pro+ wins in the price department as it has a much lower starting price and is also offered in an 8GB+256GB variant. Realme also offers an instant discount of Rs 3,000 during the first sale, which will sweeten the deal further. The phone will be available starting August 6, but OPPO’s Reno 12 Pro is already available in markets.
Realme 13 Pro+ vs OPPO Reno 12 Pro: Design
The Realme 13 Pro+ looks similar to the previous-gen Realme 12 Pro+ and continues the premium design. The phone is lightweight and has two finishes: glass (Monet Gold) and vegan leather (Emerald Green). We received the former, and using it was a breeze. It’s comfortable to hold, but we recommend you use a case as it can prevent damage in case of accidental falls.
The OPPO Reno 12 Pro is also lightweight. The design is more minimal but looks premium. It comes in a dual-tone finish: glossy and matte. The glossy part (which takes up most of the back panel) is a fingerprint and dust magnet. The phone is easy to use with one hand but difficult for people with small hands.
Both phones have an IP65 rating, which is good but could have been improved to IP68. Since both provide a sense of premium, the choice can be difficult. Go for the Realme 13 Pro+ for an attention-seeking design, while the Reno 12 Pro is better if you prefer simplicity.

The Realme 13 Pro+ has a curved display, which makes up for a premium look. The AMOLED panel offers vivid colours, and watching content appears nice with deep blacks. The 120Hz display is also snappy, and the 2000 nits brightness is sufficient even under direct sunlight.
The OPPO Reno 12 Pro’s quad-curved display doesn’t lag either, packing bright and punchy colours. It also supports HDR10+ and Widevine L1, so if you watch HD content, a good experience is ensured. While OPPO claims it offers 2000 nits of peak brightness, the phone struggles a bit under direct sunlight.
While both devices offer almost the same display experience, the Realme 13 Pro+’s enhanced sunlight legibility makes it a better choice.

Both have a triple camera setup, which includes an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The Realme 13 Pro+ is the first to get a SONY LYT 701 main sensor, and the results are quite impressive. The photos come out crisp and detailed, and the colours are mostly natural, although contrasty.
The ultra-wide lens also reproduces natural colours, and the portrait shots are good with on-point edge detection. The 3x zoom is impressive, but going more than 6x would result in blurry images. Low-light shots are equally good, but zooming in would make some noise. Selfies also came out well and mostly reproduced natural tones.
The Reno 12 Pro’s primary camera captures excellent images but sometimes struggles with excessive light, which results in improper white balance. The ultra-wide camera is good but will result in noise around the edges.
Portrait shots are rather disappointing and look artificial. The 2x zoom is good in daylight, but images captured in 5x and more will suffer. Selfies provide a polished look, which is acceptable for social media.
As for the AI features, both the Realme 13 Pro+ and the OPPO Reno 12 Pro are impressive. Both remove unwanted objects aptly, although some of the Reno 12 Pro’s features weren’t available at the time of review. The Realme 13 Pro+’s AI Ultra Clarity is a standout feature and does a great job.
The Realme 13 Pro+ is a winner here. Its impressive portrait and periscope lens performance is further enhanced by its useful AI features.
Realme 13 Pro+ vs OPPO Reno 12 Pro: Performance and Software
Realme 13 Pro+ | OPPO Reno 12 Pro
Chipset | Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 | MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy For Reno |

AnTuTu Scores | 672584 | 699,294 |
Geekbench Single Core Scores | 863 | 544 |
Geekbench Multi-Core Scores | 2844 | 2037 |
Given its price, the Realme 13 Pro+ could’ve used a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, but even the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 performs nicely. Daily tasks were a breeze without lags, and RAM management was great. Even its Geekbench scores are better than the OPPO Reno 12 Pro scores. You can check out the synthetic benchmark scores below.
The OPPO Reno 12 Pro is also a smooth performer, but it is not meant to fall short in graphic-intensive games. During our usage, we encountered a lot of lags, and the performance wasn’t smooth enough. So, here, the Realme 13 Pro+ is a better performer.
As for the software, the Realme UI 5.1, based on Android 14, is very nice and has some interesting features. However, there’s noticeable bloatware, which could annoy many users. The Reno 12 Pro’s ColorOS 14, based on Android 14, also offers good customisations, but the bloatware problem persists.
Realme and OPPO are banking strongly on AI features, so it’s a close call. However, the Reno 12 Pro gets three years of major updates, while the Realme 13 Pro+ sticks to two years of updates. This gives the former an edge over the latter.
Realme 13 Pro+ vs OPPO Reno 12 Pro: Battery and Charging
Realme 13 Pro+ | OPPO Reno 12 Pro
Type | 5,200mAh, non-removable | 5,000mAh, non-removable |

Charging time (tested) | 0 to 100% in 56 minutes | 0 to 100% in 56 minutes |
The Realme 13 Pro+ and the OPPO Reno 12 Pro stand neck-to-neck in the battery department. Both support the same charging speeds and can fully charge in 56 minutes. The Realme 13 Pro+ has a slightly bigger battery, so there’s one advantage.
Both phones can last a day, but Realme’s offering has some juice left, even for a full day. The phone also lasted 17 hours and 15 minutes in the PCMark test, which is cool. The Reno 12 Pro, on the other hand, lasted 15 hours and 45 minutes, which is not bad either. So, it’s a tie here.
Realme 13 Pro+ vs OPPO Reno 12 Pro: Verdict
The Realme 13 Pro+ and the OPPO Reno 12 Pro are comparable devices, both doing well in most areas. But if you have to choose, the Realme 13 Pro+ is a better choice for its attractive design, enhanced performance, and cameras. The battery life is also quite commendable.
However, if you want support for more software updates and a minimal yet premium look, the OPPO Reno 12 Pro is for you.
